I seen it last night on my local news, the news cast was funny because everyone they were talking to were putting extra emphasis on the Samurai Sword "You never expect to hear about a guy being killed by a Samurai sword" Oh yeah, the burglar was after the guy's video games.

My friend's granddad was in WW2, and in my friend's house, he has a samurai sword and a Nazi flag from one of the last-standing bunkers... Yeah, the Jehova's Witnesses stay well away from there.

I graduated from Hopkins in 2005. While I was there 2 students in my class were murdered by people from Baltimore city. I'm surprised that there was at least ONE unsuccessful break in at that school for once.

I'm guessing the guy just really wanted to use his sword on the guy. Lunging or not, I think 4 guys were more than capable of restraining a single person who they could probably see had no weapon as he lunged, if that is even what he did.

The article says that the police are trying to determine whether to charge him criminally, so it must matter.

They outnumbered him 4 to 1. If the burglar wasn't armed, and it is determined that they defended themselves past the extent that was neccesary, they could very well end up in jail. Of course, it really all depends on what state/province/country one lives in.

he probably caught the burglar unaware. only a fat dork would use something as archaic and over-the-top as a samurai sword.
