Let's say you just got a new boyfriend/girlfriend. Which do you think group do you think would be easier to get to like you? The parents of your lover or the friends?

For me I say the parents. For some reason parents like me a lot. I can make them laugh and overall make them feel comfortable around me. Trying to win over friends is much harder for me because they usually think I'm sketchy >.>

What say you, OT?

It really depends on the girlfriend, her parents, and her friends.

In my experience, friends. Although, sometimes the parents are pretty open and friendly.

I feel the same way. It's not as uncommon as you might think, especially in regards to the often fleeting and unsustainable circumstances in which people have friends. I have learned the hard way that "friends" are not necessarily " the ties that bind" at all.

Usually friends but girls have talked to their parents about me and seem to like me. Some friends just make things a little awkward.

I think it's because you feel like they have to become your friends now. And for me, I dislike it when my friends are chosen for me.

Parents. I've always had better relations with older people in general. My girlfriend's friends aren't too bad though, but winning over parents is easy for me.

I find that the parents are easier to win over than the friends.

Parents are easier to win over, friends tend to be tougher for some reason.

It's tough to say, a lot of her female friends liked me before I even met them but her parents were a bit of a challenge - especially when they saw us sleeping in the same bed.

doesn't sound right  I would imagine it would be easy to have the parents "ok" on you, friends will try to chat with you and hang out so you have to pretend a whole lot longer like you give a damn?

parents, definately. If I like their daughter, and a child is an extension of their parents (even if they hate to admit it), then I obviously would get along with the parents provided they are fair. Also, moms love me for some reason.

with friends, I've found a lot of them take a dramatic, over-protective nature and do the whole "if you hurt her..." approach, almost like theyre her parents lol. Get real.

Parents are easier for me, for sure. I relate with older, more mature people much better than my peers. People my age are usually still immature and idiotic. I hate dealing with them, so friends is usually the bigger challenge. But if I don't like them, then I won't even try. I'm not a show monkey, they can piss off.
