Who's the worst U.S. president in history?

Please don't include any presidents who are still living - most presidents who are still living still have a bias (for or against). Usually, we don't get the full-story on the presidents until after their libraries are finished and have passed on.

In my opinion, from what I learned in my US History class, that Warren G. Harding is the worst U.S President in history. A few members of his cabinet were involved in the Teapot Dome Scandal.

Who do you all think is?

My answer:

Jimmy Carter.

EDIT: Oh, I guess he's still alive. For some reason I thought he'd died..

I guess I'll have to go with James Buchanan, then.

Obama isnt even president yet and hasnt even done anything how can you say he is one of the worst presidents if he hasnt even took office yet, roosevelt (FDR blend) is IMO the best president

It's really difficult to answer this question when most of the people posting on this forum have lived through three presidencies (George H.W. Bush, Clinton, George W. Bush).NoRemorse13

Andrew Jackson.

He caused a collapse of the entire US Banking System because he didn't like paper money, he basically caused all of the problems that we had with the Native Americans in the 1800s by forcing them off their land and onto reservations, and then forcing them off their reservations and making them walk 100s of miles to get to their new reservations.

- Almost certainly was involved in the outcome of the Dred Scott case.

- Was in favor of slaveowners' rights.

- Knew that states' secessions were illegal but didn't feel like doing anything about it.

All in all he was one of the worst combinations of incompetence and terrible policies, ever.
