for example, they both have enough income and similar industrial lifestyles. but people this side of the west are far obese? do you think it's genetic or out of lazyness. also why is causing this, for example do americans have less tolerance for hunger (they MUST eat when even a bit hungry) or is it metabolism GoodContributor
Well for one, Europes average meal portions are sometimes half that of a average American meal.

It actually started i believe as a psycholigcal disorder. As you know our society is heavily fixated on looks which ironicly lead people to over or undereating in the country. It is also because our education on Health issues is rather poor.
However, your stereotype is not as accurate in modern times. Thanks to many forms of recent legislation, we are starting to win the war on obeisety. Republicans have passed bills on enforcing more Physical classes such as PE, while democrats have limited the amount of unhealthy foods allowed in schools. I'd say there has been a rather unpartisan approach to this matter, though i prefer the rep approach to the matter. But either way, i see obeisity not being a problem at all in about 50 years.
It's all McDonald's fault. Before McDonalds, there were no fat people in the USA.MrGeezer

because most americans are lazy pigs:)dante_123456
Not neccesarly.. The problem is American's do not have time always.. Europeans work far less hour wise per week for the same amount as American's.. This gives them time to excercise as well as cook their own meals... On the other hand American's now adays seldom have time to cook their own food and resort to fast food.. Not to mention American food portions are far larger.. I also blame the school system for flooding their cafeterias full of junk food.
Blame their lifestyle. They do nothing but lie around watching TV and other stuff, eat junk -- can you say McDonald's? That's just my explanation. Besides, Europeans eat richly but they walk around. France, England and the rest of the European countries have sidewalks. Here, the people came late and the cities were built for cars. That is why New York and San Francisco have sidewalks. They were built before cars. The rest are dinkville's -- can you say Hole in Hell a.k.a. Brawley?Cyrax-SektorOh wow....lol I'm bigger and I don't sit around and watch TV and eat McDonalds...Uneducated peon
[QUOTE="Wslacker"]What about Wendy's, Taco Bell, KFC, Burger King, Jack in The Box, on and on.....?MrGeezer
Sure they did, Super Size Me though focused on McDonald's talked about the entire fast food industry.. The reason why McDonald's gets so much press because its infact the most popular/largest.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't he only eat MCDONALDS?
Yes but his book and movie covered more then just McDonalds.. McDonalds was indeed the experiement but his message and evidence presented pertained to all junk food from Soda to every fast food chain. To claim that he was only after McDonald's is completely utterly false, he was giving a example.... Not just that but Fast Food Nation is another huge book that has given the low down dirty truth about these numerous chains.
