is it me or is there a much bigger charm of watching a old disney animation appossed to a cgi film. why do anime always seem to grab my attention.

is it me or is just sitting down and watching a old cartoon from our childhood just enjoyable even if youv outgrown the humor(well animaniacs and tiny toon are still pretty funney regardless of age)

i just find a good ol' 2d animation much more njoyable to some pixar film. there seems to be a charm to it that just makes it fun to watch. anyone else feel the same way

The hand-drawn aesthetic I feel is more charming than that of 3D environments conjured through CGI. I adore Tom and Jerry, Looney Tunes and a lot of old Cartoon Network shows.

Even though CGI can be art, I have always considered 2D animation a more artistic animation, which adds to the movie/show.

To bad current US TV animation is *****, and there are very few 2D US animated movies.:(

because you can tell it was made by human beings and not by computers; also, for 2-D animation the hand-drawn aspect is much more fluid than being done on a computer. if you want a current example, look at the old Spongebobs compared to the new Spongebobs

For me cartoons have a very laid back feel to them. I love falling to sleepwith Tom & Jerry on or watching Looney Tunes, Batman, or Justice Leagueduring a rainy day. Older cartoons/animated movies are the best for rainy/snowy days. Movies like The Flight of Dragons, The Hobbit, Fritz The Cat, etc.

The old stuff is good, but I would prefer to watch Ren & Stimpey, Cow & Chicken, Rocko's Modern Life, or Spongebob. None of which contain CGI, but contain that vital factor- socially relevant humour.

I've got a friend who owns all the seasons on DVD so I just borrowed them from him. I don't know if you can watch it (legally for free) online or not.

They're a step away from reality. It's cartoons, then CGI, then live-action fiction, then documented footage, then live footage. Nobody likes reality, so they draw it.

That's like asking why the sky is blue or why bacon tastes great...they just are. Heck, I'm watching Looney Tunes on DVD as I type this.

I havn't seen an episode of that one, but I saw a clip of it on The Soup that was pretty funny so I may have to check it out. I will admit I enjoy some of the older episodes of the Misadventures of Flap Jack

honestly I think if you are over 30 their impact is missed on the majority of people that age

however, I am 26, and most of my friends and people I associate with are in their mid-20s, and we all loooooove cartoons. I think older generations do not understand this.

and I cannot tell them why, either. That is the frustrating thing. Some young parents came into my work the other day (late 30s, early 40s)and I was watching WALL-E and, while they did not give me crap for doing so, they definately expressed interest into why I was watching a movie their 8 year old kid also enjoys lol.

I love 2D animation, but Pixar is a great studio. They probable have the highest hit to miss ratio of any movie studio in Hollywood, and are one of the few modern Hollywood companies that thrive on their own original ideas.

I wish Disney would have Pixar do all their CGI animation movies, and the rest of Disney animation be focused at 2D (what they are best at).
