they are not that scary
if one ever shows up they dont bite you
they are smaller than you
most of the spiders you see at home are not poisonous
you can kill them in a blink of an eye
it's so annoying to hear people screaming "SPIDER"
Because some of them can grow to be freaking huge. I'm not scared of them but that is a reason why.
FearMe801
is that what people really think?
you can still kill it even if it is huge
Well I think it also has to do with that spiders end up in very unusual places.... such as your chest at night when you are sleeping. Or in your shoe. Also, they look pretty damn ugly, and many females find them to be gross so they get frightened by them. But some are poisonous. Thats the only reason I would be scared of one. I dont get why people are scared of rats and mice.
Disease? But some are poisonous. Thats the only reason I would be scared of one. I dont get why people are scared of rats and mice.

plus, women are usually afraid of anything that has grown larger that it's normal size.
*cough*
Disease?True, thats he same reason i am scared of the homeless.
My brother, who is literally terrified of spiders (even the smallest of them  ), says it's how they look and move and that it's unnatural (yes he's a big baby :P).

I was wondering how long it would take for someone to say I was talking about myself, it happend faster than I thought though
But in all seriousness, my brother is scared to death of them.
This and its passed on from parents, toddlers aren't afraid of spiders until they see somebody else recoil away from them during their development.I think I read once that fear of spiders and similar creatures is innate, in that it was evolutionarily beneficial to avoid poisonous things (back when there wasn't the appropriate medical treatment).

Actually you can; just educate yourself on what spiders in your country or area are poisonous, and what spiders are not. In America, there are only a select few spiders that are actually poisonous.btw you couldn't be necessarily sure that the one you saw wasn't poisonous.

The smaller the scarier IMO, the small ones are unpredictable and fast.
I don't mind big tarantulas.
im not talking ant size though, they are too small to be scary.

Because you can blow yourself while trying to kill it. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/howaboutthat/7973024/Man-blows-himself-up-trying-to-kill-a-spider.htmlFMAB_GTO
God damn it, that photo of spider got me all paranoid! *Looks around the room and the floor to make sure there's no spider*
This, an its kinda inherited from past generations. Even I have fear of insects despite being aware that I'm more dangerous to them than they really are to me. I don't know, it may be a slight fear, but its also not wanting to actually kill them for me. I wouldn't be happy that I get killed while minding my business. not really have no intentions of harming anything besides the insects I eat to survive....I think I read once that fear of spiders and similar creatures is innate, in that it was evolutionarily beneficial to avoid poisonous things (back when there wasn't the appropriate medical treatment).

Some of them are poisonous. Some of them, like Brown Recluses, can sneak up on and bite you without you really knowing (so I've heard).
It's possibly an evolutionary trait. There's some evidence in the past that spiders were a threat in the wild, so avoiding them (fearing them) may have been advantageous.
i cant explain why im afraid of them. i just find them repulsive and i cant stand to get near one for some reason. can think of any logical explaintion as of why. i just am afraid of them.
and how can you not be repulsed when you find one of these?
Some of the ones where I live in Australia ARE poisonous though. Redback and whitetail spiders which infest most houses in my area won't kill you but supposedly are one of the most painful bites in the world, and can cause serious rotting of the skin and leave scars from the tissue damage.Faber_FighterNo mate you got it kinda mixed, the white tails will do that to you, the red backs will kill you.

Oh yeah you're right, but both still pack quite a lot of pain :P
