Unless you watch faux news you have no excuse to being brainwashed. Republicans are all about freedom right? The polls show roughly 80% of america wants another OPTION why are you against it. I guess you guys just want to be fascist dictators that don't care about the opinion of the people. Just remember socialism is a good thing even though the public option still milks you for money. Sorry I have to go talk to that insurance beurucrat so he can make a exception for denying me because I filled in my form wrong. For every arguement there is an answer.

I'm not republican but I can say in the current state of the economy, public heath care would not be do-able.

Because of defending an idealogue position they don't always stay true to themselves, and because the public option would take money away from companies that line their pockets with millions of dollars anually.

It's not public health care, it would entail private citizens buying into the public option in addition to the program getting subsidies.

Well Saddam, I couldn't say that your argument is even worth glancing at since it wasn't very well thought out of logically explained. As for republicans going against the public opinion. Did you ever think that maybe, just maybe, they don't agree with the public opinion. I would not be ignorant to say that you probably have felt that you didn't agree with the public opinion so you did your own thing. Same applies to republicans making up their own minds and having a right to disagree with they way the government is handling certain issues.

OP said Socialism is a good thing. His argument became invalid as soon as that was typed. Guess what man, there are Democrats against the socialized health care too, THAT is why it didn't pass, not because the Republicans (who are in the minority in the Senate and House) didn't want it.

The public option is actually very counter to communism. The idea is to promote competition in the industry in order to keep costs down by allowing the government to act as a COMPETING entity. Socialism would be the government forcibly taking over the insurance industry and not allowing anyone else to compete. Frankly, the insurance industry operates more closely to socialist principles. They control the market and strangle competition by acting in a collective manner in terms of screening and pricing, the only thing that keeps that from being socialism is that it's private industry acting as an opressive entity.

No, they don't support itfirst off because of all the people making noise at the town halls after being stirred up by the likes of Glenn Beck and second because they're receiving tons of money in donations from the insurance industry.

In terms of the healthcare bill, the government option very much opposes competition. It's basically designed to take out competition

And how is that exactly? The insurance companies operate almost as a collective entity, they don't undercut each others' prices because they don't want to be undercut themselves. That's counter-competitive. The public option, on the other hand, would provide an option that would force them to keep their prices lower, which is the idea behind competition anyways and the current state of competition within the industry simply isn't accomplishing.

I don't necessarily disagree with that, although I still blame the Republicans more for first of all whining about partinsanship and then coming out and saying they won't vote for any legislation opposed no matter how much input they have, and also for giving in to the extremists in their ranks and supporting ridiculous arguments with no facts supporting them like death panels. There are like two Dems in the senate who have been acting counter to the interests of the party and those voters who put them in power, and the Dems in the House came out and threatened to boycott any legislation that lacked a public option.

As far as public healthcare goes, republicans tend to believe that it would cause more harm than good.

Because of defending an idealogue position they don't always stay true to themselves, and because the public option would take money away from companies that line their pockets with millions of dollars anually.

This.

Nevermind the fact that Obama himself as well as several congressional Democrats have stated that the public option is a stepping stone toward a single payer system and is designed to phase out private insurance?

I'm not a Republicrat and I'm not a Demopublican but I can damn well tell you I don't want a government that can't handle itself running my health care! I want LESS government, and at the same time I want more options to handle my own well being, in my own fashion. Every one of my wants can easily be handled, and handled much better, by capitalist means. If one company is trying to gyp me off then so be it I'll use a different company.

All they really need to do is fix some of the rulings they have made, allow insurance to cross state borders and thereby giving me close to unlimited choices. All handled by capitalism. Socialism just doesn't cut it for me, unless you're fine with someone else who lives a lavish life (namely any politician) deciding how you live your life then I guess vote how you feel. This is a country with a 1st Amendment, thankfully, stand up for what you believe. THINK FOR YOUR SELF!

If you could, for once, get this trash government to stand behind the people instead of standing behind the corporations we would have something that everyone could use IMO.

I am all for single payer and that is exactly what i want to happen, although insurance companies will obviously not be phased out, they will exist to provide premium payment methods for non-basic/ necessary services, like cosmetic surgery or dental for adults (which i don't want to be covered under a medi-care for all system)

Its just politics as usual. Its amazing that people actually believed Obama when he said he would change that. Most of the men and women in the Senate and House view Obama as a joke because of his lack of experience. You can't just up and change the minds of Senators and Representatives who have been serving since Obama was in diapers.

So true, and Congress is absolutely worthless in my opinion. It's full politicians who, for the most part, are out of touch with reality and driven purely by special interests and personal agendas. None of them really listen to anyone else and they all think they are right no matter how many times they are proven wrong. The Republicans and Democrats in congress will never be truly productive or effective because they all act like 5 year olds who get caught up arguing over pointless things simply because they like different colors. They are absolutely those annoying kids who argue just to argue. Yet they get elected because they have the ability to talk out of their butts and make people believe all of the great ideas that they propose...when in reality, most of that stuff doesn't even come close to being done. Yet, they are entrusted as the supposed "best people for the job" when it comes to writing effective laws and reform:roll: and I will end my rant by just saying Most of them don't even read the bills they blindly pass. :|

Sorry for the random tirade, as it only loosely has to do with the topic...it's just frustrating. :x :D

Exactly, the majority of these people (there are some honest people left in congress, Ron Paul and Dennis Kucinich to name two from both sides of the spectrum) are corrupt, under the sway of corporations and lobbyists, we need serious reforms to root out and stop this corruption, not to mention actually voting these people out of office and getting people who actually do what they were elected to do, namely represent the public that put them there.

well, if it makes you feel any better...

"A new Rasmussen poll has shown 57% of Americans would like to vote to throw every person in Congress out of office and start over. The poll also shows 18% aren't sure and only 25% of voters would keep the current members in power."

We just need to make it a reality...

Public healthcare is diametrically opposed to traditionally held Republican ideologies of free-market Capitalism.
