Are you digging further than what you see at your local theaters?

For the most part, directors and writers just don't care anymore. Most movies are just cheap cash-ins.

You need to dig deeper for quality films. Juno, No Country For Old Men, There Will Be Blood, The Darjeeling Limited, and Into The Wild are all great movies that were released not too long ago.

Yeah it's true. Newer movies are not as good as they used to be. Do some research, and check out some older flicks at your local blockbuster. There are many many good movies out there...

As a few people have already said, if you're a serious film fan, you have to dig deeper for the films you want these days, no matter what genre. You can't rely only on what is playing at the local theater.

Of course movies are good now. Many of the movies we now consider classics were once critically panned upon release. Time is kinder to these films, and we are given the illusion of a decline in good films due to this. Still, as said before, your local theater is not representative of all of the films out right now.
