Why Be a Mod?

I understand that if you like to do something, you'd be more likely to do it for free.

BUT

why devote any amount of your time to a large international multi million dollar company that CAN afford to pay you for your efforts, but chooses not.

and its not like your job isn't important to the running of the company, without mod's, this place would tear its self apart, like in robocop when the police went on strike. and if you can imagine it, system wars would actually be worse.

anyway, it just seems to me that for the amount of work you have to do, you should be getting something, and by something i mean money.

If you were to add in payment for the job they do then it would be just that a job... some of the mods don't live on here and if they got paid for what they do they might have to in order to earn the money and keep their mod title... It is fine the way it is... People like being mods anyways even though they frequently get abused by disgruntled users...:Pfunkadelichika

indeed, and besides, it doesn't have to be a lot of money, but they should get some financial reward, even if all it is, is just enough to buy a fried chicken family meal once a week

I think the compensation of a free total access account is appropriate for the situation.

Most moderators work on all forums.  Its just that some moderators can afford to spend more time on here than others.  That is one of the reasons why I wouldnt want to get paid.  By not getting paid I can come on here when I feel like it and not when a contract tells me to.  So - If I have had a hard day and feel a bit tetchy then I dont moderate until my mood improves.  That benefits all of us:)

You're drastically exaggerating the difficulty of being a mod. Haha

I'm a mod on another forum and I'm here now.

There's no obligation really involved, I just go on occasionally and if I happen to run across something against the rules; I mod it. Mods don't do a pay worthy job, imo.

Though I wouldn't mind more money. >_>
