I'm not sure I understand the question.
What we define as "color" is nothing more than electromagnetic radiation of certain wavelengths causing a reaction in our retinas that is then interpreted by our brains. There are countless other wavelengths out there that do not cause a reaction in our retinas, and we comprehend these just as well as the others. As such, we already have a full understanding of every single color that could possibly exist.
I think it has something to do with the way our eyes see and stuff like that. And what does this have to do with god's beginning?
Ya I've thought of this before and it only ended with me getting a headache. :PLightRI know me too! Lol
Because we don't know it, the same way we can't imagine new sensations or flavors, we have to experience it first, I guess the color blond people can't imagine the colors they can't percieve even when they are awere those colors exist.
So theres no way a "new" color could ever exist? Man that sucks :(I'm not sure I understand the question.

I'm sorry to have crushed your life's dream of creating a new color. :P
Yeah i was getting tired of blue.[QUOTE="TwilightTown15"]Just a theory i read. Anyway back on topic Ah, okay. I didn't want think too hard on the connection. >.>I think it has something to do with the way our eyes see and stuff like that. And what does this have to do with god's beginning?

I cannot comprehend a new color for the life of me. If ever there were to be a new color. Its like our comprehension with god's beginning. GodOfDogWar
You know why? Because you can't freaking see it. If it's not within the part of the spectrum which is visible to you, then it's not something that you can conceptualize. Same as how someone who is completely colorblind doesn't know what "red" looks like.
Although you could comprehend it by looking at its objective features, such as the wavelength of light. The point here being that even though we can't SEE colors which fall outside of the visible spectrum, we can still determine their existence by other means.
Well technically if we could see all lights in the spectrum there would be (in theory) new colors. Since no one can prove this, so be it. :lol:xBSCxthat does make sense

Depends on how you define a color. If you define it as just a narrow band within the electromagnetic spectrum, then sure other colors exist. We just can't see them.
There are surely other animals that CAN see colors that we can't imagine, just as we see colors which other animals can't imagine.
This. That's why it's difficult for people to make truly creative alien species that don't have limbs or organs. We only use what we know. That's why I don't understand when people cry "rip off!" because we can only think of so much without outside influence.Because we don't know it, the same way we can't imagine new sensations or flavors, we have to experience it first, I guess the color blond people can't imagine the colors they can't percieve even when they are awere those colors exist.

What are you talking about?
I make new colors all the time when I can't decide which ones I want to wear.
I'm totally rocking a slurple jacket right now.
I tried to think of that but it made my brain hurtToriko42Linked this in another color thread. It's not going to help that headache much:

I'll create a better eye. I'll show you all!
Can't wait for a Cyber Punk like future.
The electromagnetic spectrum is fixed, as is human physiology, so no new colors for us, I'm afraid.

Although technology may be able to help us "see" out of our current range of the light spectrum, kind of like how night vision, well, allows us to see in the dark and the same with thermo imaging. It it may seem far off or impossible but so were alot (or most) of the things that we currently take for granted

Night vision goggles and thermal goggles let us see parts of the electromagnetic spectrum we can't see with the naked eye by processing the input it receives and placing it into the visible spectrum for the human eye. Neither let us literally see those wavelengths of electromagnetic radiation.

Spectral cybernetic augmentations are one thing, and a very real possibility in the near future, but as for Humanity naturally being able to expand into that range, it would take hundreds or thousands of years, and an evolutionary need to see in that part of the spectrum. Our Sun dying may facilitate such a genetic mutation.
I'd imagine there are an infinite amount of colors just like numbers and the other colors we can't see because we can't process.
I love these threads, always points out the people who sleep in science class.
Anyway to play devil's advocate I've heard people can see ultra violet rays... apparently it's just purple though. Hypothetically if the eye could differ other wavelengths outside the color spectrum, and the brain was able to process the difference then that would "create new colors".

Impossible is NOT! Don't ruin my Dreams!
Actually, as i think more on the subject, If humans continue, and they will, genetic research it may be possible to implement a wider range of vision over the course of a few generations, rather then waiting for natural evolution to occur...although i highly doubt any one is currently working on such a task, or really cares to see ultra violet or infra-red..or any other kind (although I personally think i'd be cool to see something like Radio waves, but that might end up being annoying)
