It's just the way it is. I don't think there is a good answer. It's just the law.

Because without censorship and mommy and daddy saying "the F-word is wrong honey" the word would lose all it's merit. Seriously, would saying **** really be as enjoyable/meaningful if it was just another common word used more rampantly than "hello"?

A lot of people do not like hearing swear words. They don't mind if it's implied, but they don't want to hear them directly.

I know what you mean, it is kinda pointless.

But I do kinda get a comic relief off of it when you hear the beep in TV shows like South Park.

I agree but enough people feel that way so there you have it. It's getting more lax though. I hear **** (the S word) all the time on regular TV channels at night now.

Move to Canada then? After 10 o'clock it's any-word-goes on TV. It's actually kind of odd watching an uncensored version of south park on the Comedy Network then watching the Daily Show and hearing the bleeps again :s

Swear words will always have a hint of hostility behind them. Most people don't like others being hostile.

again thats just the way it is.. Ive been banned a couple of days before and most of my tthreads locked only because they know the color of my skin. I think it is wrong but it is just the way it is around here and the rest of the world. And someone will say they dont know the color of my skin but i feel they do thats why so many injuctices to me and my kind has been perpatrated throughout all time. But i live with it and can accept it . But i thought that since we elected Barrack as president all of that old way of thinking would pass but i guess not some things will never change . Just like it says in the bible........ ahmen....

It should be more lenient, I agree that much. eg. "oh man my foot ****** hurts" wouldn't offend anyone, so it wouldn't deserve a moderation. However if the swear word is used to offend someone then obviously they should get moderated, it shouldn't be the words it should be the context they're used in.

Not everyone is Christian so the Bible isn't the rule of the world.

People should just use common sense more.

Because we like to lie and keep people innocent. No those are bad words, in real life you don't hear those at all. And no decent person uses them. So we must censor them on TV and places like this. Parents have NO control over what their kids see one the internet or on TV, so the media and gamespot MUST prevent them from seeing anything bad.

I belive this is a just right thing to do. So be careful and think of the other guy just as it says in the bible becareful and willfull of your neighbor needs and be true to yourself and the light will shine through to other good day. I just think that everyone should take a step back and look at the other guys side of the story because there are allways two sides to a story . I belive that the bible anwser all questions we have in life for all time from the past and to the future needs of mankind and to the future just be careful of what we say to each other and it will come back to you four times in a return fashion which is a good thing.

I think swear words are just words. So what? Perhaps the point of them getting overused is true but then again, aren't they already? Think of how you talk with your mates, a lot of swearing, yeah?

I'm not Big Smoke, and despite saying you weren't gonna post, here you are. Usually we have to go to the admins, but even the mod tools showed that you are in fact govermentcheese. You were banned, you appealed the ban and Jody turned it down. It means stay away.

I think it's more like a statement: "Curse words are bad. Use less of them. Just to let you know". And a post with lots of asterisks tend to look pretty ugly. Not that I have anything against cursing, my mouth isn't the cleanest one in the world IRL.
