Why deny that there's bad stuff about the Muslim faith?

Like the Jihad, for example. The word has multiple meanings but can also be translated into holy war/holy struggle against non-believers.

Thoughts?

I am not talking about what Muslims do now. If they don't kill people because of their beliefs, that hightens my view of them. What has been written in their holy book is not changed by what they believe, however.

That is why I mentioned the Muslim religion and not Muslims specifically.

Who is saying there are NO bad things about it? For that matter, who is saying there are no bad things about the Catholic faith? Are all Catholics responsible for the murder of abortion doctors, or the pedophile adventures of their priests, or the subsequent cover ups? Are all white people responsible for Timothy McVeigh? Are all white people responsible for the fact that more serial killers are white than any other ethnicity? Yet the demonization of Muslims and the Muslim faith continues. I live in NYC and it's been amazing to watch the selective outrage built by psychopaths like Pamela Geller and fear mongers like Fox News. The controversy about the mosque has been largely a joke, in that there was no outrage initially except from a very few, but the outrage was marketed and spread and a few months later all of a sudden it's a victory mosque, thanks to morons and conservative politicians. Perhaps we should bring back the Spanish Inquisition...

As a person who has memorized the entire Qu'ran. I assure, there are no verses that say kill people because of their faith. ALL of the verses that you find on crappy Islamic hatred websites took verses out of context or poorly translated them.

There's bad stuff about most faiths. Anytime people put blind faith into something instead of reason, bad things can happen. I have no problem with religions. I just worry about the narrow minded zealots that seem to pop up with every major religion.

Jihad is simply a Muslim's holy duty to convert others to their religion. Some radicals/fundamentalists use it as an excuse to attack other countries. You must realize that their are crazy people in every religion who will take one phrase out of the Qu'ran/Bible/Torah and use it as an excuse to hurt others. The Qu'ran also says that you must not fight unless others fight you first, and that peace is important. Besides, many Christian groups have similar ideas, (eg. Mormon, Jehovah's Witness). All these groups must also try to convert others to their religion as well.

What happened to freedom of religion?

What happened to stay in your own frickin country and leave us alone with your BS.

I find that incredibly intolerant, which is unfortunately why a lot of Muslim terrorists attack us. Also, you do realize that Christianity's "God" and Islam's "Allah" are the same god under different names, right? Islam and Christianity are extremely similar, if you would actually take the time to learn about both of them

So? does that necessarily mean Islam endorsed that action? Besides, under Islamic law they can't force them to convert to Islam. Instead they had to pay a Jizya tax and were exempt from the zakat tax.

It did at first, but in fact many countries accepted Islam. Forced conversions were rare, and Muslims of the time were extremely tolerant of Christianity and Judaism. I'm not denying that they did take over countries at first, but after the Battle of Tours in 732 they more or less stopped. Now, you don't find them running around conquering countries right?

In Quaran it also says "Do not fight with them, unless they fight with with you", Dont show us al qaeda or taliban as a example, they kill innocent people and use God's name for violence... If you look at Turki States you wont see something like that...

The word "Jihad" literally means struggle. If you add another word in front of it,its meaning changes.Their are various uses for jihad. It could mean struggle against an idea, struggle against addiction, struggle against foreign occupation etc.Hence moral of the post-"Have complete knowledge about a religion before jumping to conclusions".
