Why did I get banned?

I don't understand why my gamespot user got banned. A guy was looking for advice whether he should buy a ps3 so I wrote:

"Yeah, I had a ps1 and ps2 when I was a kid, but I made the switch to xbox360 at the start of the year, and man, I dont regret it one bit, even after playing on my mates ps3 for a while. Xbox 360 got a mad live system, a mad marketplace where you can download all the demos and videos for the games on the market at super fast download rates. Personally I even reckon some of the original xbox games are better than Ps3 games, like fable.

And xbox360 is having a major game wave, mass effect, assassins creed, halo3 and plus we get most of the games that Ps3 get plus these exclusives. Also man you should start this post in the neutral section, a general forum, because your only getting a one sided opinion in the ps3 section. Have a look at the list of games available on x360 and on Ps3 before you make your decision."

Why should I get banned for showing my opinion? I was trying to help him, and he was only getting one side of the story in the ps3 section.

Can someone explain how this is trolling and why it got me banned indefinitely?

That was a bit of an overreaction...banning someone for that post? Even suspending someone would be overboard. Hell, even TOS points loss or TOS warning are excessive.

You need to go to the "Ask the Mods" board to get an answer for your question, only the moderators and admins on Gamespot will be able to help you with this.

Personally i think that getting a permanent ban for that post is well out of order but i'm not a mod so my opinion is just that, opinion, so its somewhat irrelevant.

OMG. Sometimes it seems as if Gamespot is being runned by pu****s. They need to toughen up a bit and stop being so strict.

But then again it might be cos of all the whiny PS3 people in the forums who could take that as a personal insult or something

I read this post in "Ask the Mods" too and it just looked like the mod who answered it was dodging the question because he didn't have an answer. I've been modded for some dumb stuff, but this guy getting banned for simply going against whatever board he was on? That's not right. He didn't even outright make fun of anything, which is normally grounds for banning.
