More like the television producers and actors are looking to make money. It's not just America I'm sure you can find a version of the show in most countries, if not there are other examples. The Chan Chan Clan anyone? Bad example, but damned funny.I'm talking of course, about the american remake of British T.V series "Life On Mars". WHY!?!?! For others to judge they will need to see a full episode. No need to hate on Americans.Cherokee_JackHappens everytime we adapted a show from another country, no matter the quality.
If you don't like the show, then don't watch it. Simple. I never understood the reasoning behind complaining about remakes and such. Besides, there are other countries who remake American shows...hell, there's 10 different international versions of Married...With Children alone, who knows how many other shows are remade.

And yet I have NEVER seen one american complain about it. Main reason is we don't care. If anything, remakes will probably get people interested the original source material. Recent example, The Office. I wasn't aware it was a remake of an British program, and it made me curious enough to see it for myself. What is Life on Mars?

Thank you, kind sir, for taking my post seriously. Because, you know, I was 100%...no, over 9000% (!!!!!!) serious!
On that note, I did hear some pretty interesting accents/dialect when I visited Cornwall. Does that even count as English?

Particularly by Australia :D although we are both going downhill now. I now want to see an Australian Life on Mars.
I haven't seen either version. =X
What America really butchered though was Kath and Kim. While I rarely even watch, let alone like, the original Australian version, the American version doesn't even get the concept of the show, let alone try and either a) replicate the Australian charatcers or b) emulate it's own American characters. The girl that plays Kim is waaaaay hot though, so good on her for that.
I haven't seen the British version of the office, but I suspect I'd like the American one more, since I love it. =)
i lol'd at the impression (even though it's written down) and I'm a Brit. Julius Ceaser *thumbs up*What is Life on Mars?

Life of Mars was awesome. The Gene Genie was one of the best creations in the history of TV (IMO!! :D) However, I suspect that the people who created Life on Mars and who are also responsible for the American version thought that perhaps a provincial programme set in 1970s Manchester would not translate very well over the pond and have therefore remade it with a US audience in mind. I haven't seen the US version, so can't comment, but I suspect that it is still pretty good. Perhaps you are not familiar with the references from the US version in much the same way an American would not be familiar with our version?!? Just thought!Yeah, I wish they'd speak English instead of whatever it is they speak over there in EnglandWhat is Life on Mars?
