They answer simple question in rhetorical questions, one would think that they don't know the answer themselves but are attempting to look intelligent in doing so. Then they carry out thread hijacks among each other, and nothing happens [of course] since they know everyone and they're basically just trolling around a board, but it's fine because they have 2000 karma. Sometimes, when they mock me(and occasionally other GS users on the board) for being a GameSpot user, I tell them "Okay, you guys are so great and smart, WHO's name is on WHOSE banner? I don't see a GameFAQs logo plastered all over our GameSpot, but I see GameSpot on the GameFAQs banner". Anyway, is this just in certain boards or do they actually all have these kind of behavior? At least the guys over at ESIV board have pretty much 'accepted' me once I became a Veteran on that board. Do you experience this with GameFAQs users? How do you deal with it?(Besides avoiding the board completely).
I've seen quite a few GF users try to start flame wars with GS users on the game specific forums.. for no reason other than they are GS users. Its pointless.. game specific forums are meant for talking about the game, but some people want to use it as a place to spam, flame and troll. It is actually a lot better now than what it used to be.. from what i've seen anyway. To engage in those arguments is just a waste of time. Let them say what they want, im sure you have better things to do than giving them the reaction they want.
I don't know why that happens. I post on another forum for my favorite band (Dream Theater forums) and quite a few of the users there think that they know absolutely everything about the band and hate other people's opinions
I post there every once in a while from my Gamespot account. I have spotted many a troll lurking those parts, but I've personally never had any issues with or experienced any hostility from GameFAQ users..
I've been a member on that site since December 27, 2000, & throughout my experience, it is very immature (I didn't become a member here until they merged GameFAQ's & this site together, & that was back in 2004, I believe).
Anyway, I try to avoid them most of the time. Sometimes I would only go there to read a game walkthrough & just to gain more karma (I'm on Sage with 3033 karma).
Remember the kid who set his school on fire because GF members told him to? I like to imagine majority of the users there as that guy. It's like 'that unmentionable site' for 11 year olds
Plus the mods there totally break rules and don't do anything themselves.. I've seen some guy with 9 alt accounts(all banned but one) and he never gets banned until someone reports him. It's really obviously him because he makes an account that usually has his original acc name in there, and makes a thread saying "Hi i'm back, whats up guys". Lol.
