Interesting vid on the subject:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZOIYscU7TQ4&feature=player_embedded

Idk what it is, but I agree with a lot of what he says. I've seen so many girls stay with guys who treat them like complete ****. I guess it shouldn't be surprising when a show like Jersey Shore becomes an international phenomenon =/ Thoughts?

girls like douchebags.

because they act aloof, and are spontaneous.

and on average,

"hot" guys are usually douchebags.

and let's face it,

most girls go for how "hot" a guy is.

at least where i live anyways.

lol maybe so but he raises a lot of interesting points. It always amazes me when really attractive women get sucked into these destructive relationships with guys that are inferior to them in every way.

I always wonder about that as well, though it doesn't bother me, I go for the quiet types more, can't really take noise. I've always thought it to be a phase though, most of them generally grow out of it.. most I've seen at least.

Eh, it's more like this: Most girls don't want to dig for your dark side, no one likes to be with someone for a year and then one day get the **** beat out of them, so being nice or seeming super interested in everything off the bat usually ends up leading to friendship, you don't hang out with your guy friends expecting one of them to give you a smooch for liking the same things you do do you? So the displays of douchebaggery are usually just a front, the actual relationship might be great.

As for women who stay with men who beat them I have no answer at all.

God, I'm so tired of guys saying they can't get a girl because they are "nice". Utter bull****. Stop blaming the world for your own inadequacies (not directed at anyone in particular btw).

Well there is such a thing as being too nice, the thing is once a guy realizes he's too nice he makes his good qualities seem amazing and tries to hide any or all negative qualities which usually outweigh the good qualities. I'm considered a nice person and I do treat others nicely usually. I don't consider myself a nice person though, I realize I'm too nice at face value, but the real me only comes out on occasion. I don't really put on an act but I'd rather my friends be content with me than be unsettled by what I really have going on in my head.

There'a a difference between being passive and being nice. There's nothing wrong with being kind and respectful but it's also important to be assertive and I think sometimes that's the problem for nice guys. Another part of it I would think is that women in general have been conditioned to find that 'bad boy' type of guy more attractive and once you're sucked into a relationship it's hard to realize how bad it is until you're out.

This. Lots of guys like to use the excuse that girls will only date "bad boys" because they're hot and exciting, but I believe that to be a horrible misconception. Girls want a guy who is both nice AND attractive to them, saying that girls date douches all the time is slightly insulting. If you can't seem to be in a relationship, there's probably a reason why. So yes, I agree, stop blaming everyone else for it.

Well no one wants to be bored and I think that's the bottom line when it comes to relationships. You want someone who is going to be able to get you excited or surprise you in many aspects of life. But it's hard to draw a line at what is ok and what isn't. When you get sucked into something it's usually when you get hurt severely. I've had plenty of bad relationships and friendships. I think people in general just want to be with the person who gives them the most attention whether it be positive or negative.

I think some of it has to do with insecurity and also they want to see if they can change the guy.

I don't think he meant they date them with that intent but during the relationships if there are bad habits that develop or that weren't that obvious in he beginning, instead of ending the relationship they hope that hey can positively influence the person into changing. I've seen that happen with many of my friends.

Girls stay with guys who mistreat them due to lack of self-confidence. As long as intelligence is belittled by society, and T n' A is promoted, it will be very difficult for young girls to escape the cycle. It's an Idiocracy. There are books written on how America values stupidity over intelligence, and how being a "stylish" moron is socially more desirable in today's age in the US.

Nah, of course not, but like Gaiden said if during the relationship they see something they think they could help change, then that would be a reason they'd stay in a relationship that people looking at from the outside may see as mistreatment. But I agree.....I doubt many, if any, girls solely choose to date a seemingly bad guy just to attempt to change him.

I just don't like that generalization to be quite honest, I think it's oversimplified and inaccurate. It depends on a lot of things though.

No, no. If I was replying to your comment I would have quoted you, no worries. I didn't mean to insult you though, sorry if I did so indirectly :(

I was jumping on the train of thought the person I quoted had in response to the video, if it correlated with yours a tad that was coincidence :P
