I was wondering this after I saw the "Is hell real" Thread. Like some random guy on OT is gonna know if hell is real or not. Despite being the smartest things on the planet we sure can be pretty clueless about things regarding faith.

We ask these impossible questions because it's human nature. As a species, we strive to know every possible piece of information. Our thirst for knowledge can override our sense of logic, so we ask questions that will never be answered.

It's just human nature, questions such as "how was the universe (and consecuently us) created?", "is there a purpose to life?" or "what happens when you die? Does everything just en, or is there something more?" have a great deal of importance for us, it has always been that way, and it probably always will. I think without those kind of philosophical dilemas we wouldn't be entirely humans, they're a fundamental part of what we are.

Because some people don't realize the pssibility of things far above their level. It's arrogance in a way. they believe that if something doesn't fit in their human level of logic, it can't be real. It's like an ant not believing that rockets exist because that doesn't fit into their realm of knowledge and level of being.

Kinda reminds me of a quote by H.P lovecraft.

"The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents. We live on a placid island of ignorance in the midst of black seas of infinity, and it was not meant that we should voyage far. The sciences, each straining in its own direction, have hitherto harmed us little; but some day the piecing together of dissociated knowledge will open up such terrifying vistas of reality, and of our frightful position therein, that we shall either go mad from the revelation or flee from the light into the peace and safety of a new dark age. It is because mortal man fear that which they do not understand. Knowledge brings a certain layer of comfort. The lack of knowledge only brings a desire to find the truth and fear of the unknown.

The other reason is simply because OT users are attention ******.

Because we wonder. Asking questions that seem impossible to answer is the reason we advance our knowledge. And even asking questions which are truly impossible to answer is just in our nature, because we are curious beings. We want to understand everything in our lives and beyond.
