Shh, go back inside and drink your haterade.
He speaks his mind and the loudest are the ones that counter. I'd say that the people who hate him are really the smallest group of the three (those who hate, those who like, and those who don't care or don't know him and subsequently don't care). The ones that hate him just make a big stink and thats what gets the attention.
U2 has some great tunes though. I saw them two years ago and it was one of the best concerts I've ever been to.
I don't hate him. I think he's pretty cool. He is a bit too preachy, but I can see he means well, and he really tries to make a difference through his campaigning. It's not just for publicity. People may not agree with his methods, but there should be no doubt that his heart is in the right place.
Plus U2 are a very good band. It's not like I love their music or anything, but I like them enough to not change radio stations when their song comes on. And Rattle and Hum was a pretty damn good album.....
I don't hate him...he's just entirely too cocky for someone of his talent and abilities.
But I do think more people should use their fame to raise awareness of injustice.
Preachy. Also, I like my politics and music to be seperate.Canvas_Of_Flesh
Are you kidding me? The only reason I listen to most of what I do is for the political lyrics. It's nice to know how pissed off other people are about crap like the armenian genocide committed by Turkey and people in 3rd world countries being stripped of their culture and human rights in the name of Christian-izing the world.
He writes half his lyrics that preach about giving to charity and starving tramps as he steps from his private jet to his golden hummer. Nobody likes a hypocrite.
Oh, I forgot to add: why the F does he wear nascar goggles? Plus he's friends with Saint Geldof, who I also dislike.

Yeah, isn't it great to know how pissed off people are and then do nothing about their newfound awareness!
Because people dont like to feel badly and actually find out that everyone in the world isnt as doing as well as they are. Bono gets the word out and people dont want to hear it, so some will always hate hearing the truth...
Bono is a great man

How much do you think direct aid to Africa actually does? Not much, if any. Bono may be well intentioned but hes coming at things from pretty much the least effective angle of all the different ones available.

I've been an ANCA member since I was like 15 years old. I've been trying to convince people to give up Christianity as long as I've been alive.
I do everything I can...the music gives me inspiration to never quit.

Now I'm intrigued. What exactly does this ANCA stand for? I'm pretty apathetic towards religion, as an agnostic, but is this group opposed to the globalization effects of Chrisitanity, or just the religion in general?

Anti-neutrophilic cytoplasmic antibodies. These are a class of antibodies identified by immunofluorescence.

ANCA is a group committed to getting the Armenian Genocide officially recognized. The only way to prevent future genocide is to educate people about the atrocities of genocide.
I was referring to Christianity because you said I never did anything about the anger...I'm no hypocrit...I'm far too stubborn. I practice what I preach and I listen to music that preaches the same message for inspiration to keep on going.

I can respect that. You also can't deny that the majority of groups today will sing about any number of issues and then proceed to do nothing about it, or work to the detriment of that issue area. Same goes for the people who love those groups and get elitist about the environment, Iraq, government, or any of the other whole multitude of issues out there. I think Bono is probably one of those people.
Because as others have said he's preachy and hypocritical. He can talk for hours about how we need to cut back on luxuries so we can donate money to help Africans, and then he'll fly his favourite hat first c.lass to a concert in Italy.PBSnipes
Pretty annoying when you pair that with these lyrics:
"And you speak of signs and wonders
But I need something other
I would believe if I was able
I'm waiting on the crumbs from your table"
I dislike him because he frequently appears on television, telling me to turn my lights off and buy a hybrid car, before stepping onto his private jet and being blasted off to Vegas to stay in one of his many epic mansions for the weekend, while wearing designer sunglasses which cost more than most african families will make in a year.Ninja-Hippo
The thing is, he's a LOT richer than you. However, that also means that he donates a LOT more money than you.
I'm still waiting for a documented case of Bono telling anyone to give away all of their money.

I just prefer that my music doesn't get all preachy on me. I listen to music for the fact that it's music...it's pleasing to the ears. I don't need music to justify my beliefs or morals.
Because his music sucks...IlivedActually U2 is starting to annoy me really badly lately. Wherever I go, they always seem to be playing on the radio. Starting to get under my skin.
just watch the south park episode more crap, youll understand why after thatlinkin_guy109
