Did they have the song with the lyric, "I love your pants around your knees"?
I reckon that's reason enough.
oh, and for hard rockers they look like private school nancy boys.
oh, and they sound like a Pearl Jam ripoff
and the lead singer has bad hair.
but other than that...... they're tops!
I know they're not the greatest or most original band, but I don't think they deserve the level of loathing dealt out by critics and most other people.
Can someone give me some good reasons why they are hated so widely and so hard?
I'm not trying to defend them to the world, I'm just curious.
And any answer that is, "Because they suck," will only hurt your own reputation.Nickelback4Life
Because they rip off their own music by rehashing it.
Because they've stated time and time again their unwillingness of alter or evolve their sound until they need to do so to get a financial boost.
Because they're the epitome of commercialized rock. There's no substance to their music, it's all by the numbers, formula-rock.
Because Chad kroeger is a turdburglar and kicked out the only member of his band that seemed to give a damn. And he drinks & drives.
I like some of their songs, but for the most part their music lacks variety, and their lyrics aren't that amazing. I find myself only listening to them when I'm super angry >_>
I dont like nickelbacks style of music. Cant say the same for Creed, a world of a difference. Oh yea, and anything with "core" in it sucks.GamerkatThe main difference between Creed and Nickelback is that Scott Stapp actually put his heart and soul into the music. So much that it turned it into drivel, but at least he tried.

What do you make a thread about NIckleback like 4 times a week? They are getting very old. There is always going to be people that don't like a band, Nickleback is no different.
EDIT: I think you should change your time to Nicklelbackthreads4timesaweek

Because they're worse than bad, they're 100% generic and still manage to sound boring.
Yeah, they're not the most original band. That's an understatement. Which wouldn't even be that much of a problem if listening to them was even fun or entertaining or nolstagic in a "this music is soothing because pretty much everyone tries to make music like this nowadays and this kind of music is all I hear". No, somehow their most defining characteristic is being BLAND. BORING. I can turn on FM radio and listen to 100 crappy unoriginal and derivative rock songs. But the second that a Nickelback song comes on, I am just deafened by their completele blandness. That really doesn't have to do with the fact that their music is crappy or that their music is derivative and unoriginal. It's that it is just BLAND. And it's so bland and boring that it hurts my ears. By contrast "What's the Story Morning Glory" by Oasis is also derivative and unoriginal too, but at least it's sort of catchy, it sounds good, and it's just overall a sort of fun albun.

They might not play Ashlee Simpson's good songs on the radio either, but that doesn't mean I'm gonna go out and buy her album just to get a fair and informed opinion. If the **** that is meant to get people like me to buy the album is worse than their non-radio songs, then don't blame me for that. I'M not the dude who allegedly decided to take all of the worst songs from their albums and put THOSE songs on the radio as a means of representing the band.

Anyone remember Grungies? He was a pretty cool user here, I recall, before he got banned or something. Anyway, he had pretty good taste in movies and we used to talk movies. And sometimes we'd disagree and maybe even argue.
But one day, he publicly admitted that he likes Nickelback. And from that point on, we sort of drifted apart. One time we had an argument about a movie, and I countered his points by saying "those are strong words from someone who likes Nickelback". And I didn't even mean it as a joke. It was just sort of an off-handed comment meant to humorously signal defeat, and that I had lost the argument.
But something magical happened. He anctually got angry and defensive, as if I had actually made a legitimate counter-argument. At that point, I'd sort of found the dude's weakness, and I just ran with it. From that point on, every time we disagreed, I'd just pull out the Nickelback card and say "yeah, but at least I don't like Nickelback." And it'd always end up with the dude getting angry and pissed off, while I ended up laughing my ass off at how much I was pissing this guy off. It was sort of a running joke between us, but one where I was the only one laughing.
Still, as fun as it was, I think I took it too far. Because I sort of miss Grungies. He was pretty damn cool. I don't know why he's not here any more. I assume that he got banned or something. But towards the end of his time here, we sort of drifted apart a bit, and I think that may have had something to do with how I always gave him **** because he liked Nickelback.
Grungies was a funny dude. Reminded me of this one guy a few years back who was a really cool poster, but liked Linkin Park and defended them to the death.Anyone remember Grungies? What if Grungies happens to be that guy at the gas station who insulted you? :o And he knows that your weakness is tobacco. :shock:Anyone remember Grungies? Remember Grunges "three chords and the truth"? Try two chords and commercialism.fellybatYour very close.... But Nickleback did a lot to the music industry that people don't realize but yes, the post-"wanna" be grunge additude is a major reason.

Two problems I've got with them is the fact that most of their songs are near-indistinguishable, and that they're a generic rock band.
I've also heard complaints about them having "no talent" but I've no idea how to judge that. I'm not a massive music fan like everybody else on this board seems to be.
I know they're not the greatest or most original band, but I don't think they deserve the level of loathing dealt out by critics and most other people. It probably has sumthing to do with the fact that they suck?
