I made a thread about asking a question. The question was do you wear abercrombie or Hollisters. Man I never would have known what that thread turned into. People just bash it left and right. It wasn't that they didn't like A&F and HCO but that they really really hated those stores. I ask now why?

It was almost like fanboys coming bashing other game system except this was bashing Abercrombie and HCO

There's a huge difference between dislike and hate. I sensed that people hate Abercrombie and Hollisters in myearlierthread. It was definitely not dislike. I understand that people might not like the store and clothes but to hate. That is something completely different

I'm not gonna post any quotes but heres a link to that my earlier thread

http://www.gamespot.com/pages/forums/show_msgs.php?topic_id=26546753

is it because its a Preppy store.

But I don't really like the style.

I don't hate people who wear those clothes, it's just for me particulary I don't want to be a walking billboard, paying for the words "Hollister" written over my chest. I just wear monotone tshirts for the most part with no labels or anything that makes me look like I'm advertising a band, brand, or whatever.

To work at A&F or HCO you have to be pretty hot. Basically these guys look like models. Both guys and girls who work there

There are some people on Gamespot who hated the "popular" kids of high school that wore those brands. CommanderShiro

Or with just think it sucks. :?

I love looking good in public, but there so many other clothing company's you can wear and look better. To me those companies or people who wear in constantly have no sense of style.

People alwasy will hate something that dosen't deserve the spot light. What has those company's done diffrent from other clothing lines? Nothing. They put same logo's and same symbol on all of there clothes. Nothing revloutionary really. But yet the sell, sell, sell. I don't hate it. It's just something that's not that great.

Users don't like those stores because they are inherently conformist. And it just isn't proper to endorse anything that other people like or enjoy.

In fact, to be a good GS user you must despise anything that might be viewed as conformist. This includes things that the majority of the population might use or like such as food, toilet paper, or toothpaste. It's just not kosher.

pretending like you don't do these things is also rather conformist.

The clothes there are ridiculously expensive. Why pay extra for a pair of pants that have holes in them? If I wanted holes in my pants I would make them myself. People, you got to earn your holes! Plus every single piece of clothing or clothing accessory is plastered with the stores name. Why would I want that? I just hate the whole preppy kid style. I'll stick with my jeans and band shirts thanks.

If people give me those stuff for a gift, I'd definitely wear it. It's free, plus they're kind of cool. If it were my own money, it would be spent elsewhere. I 'discovered' a local store with some seriously cool tshirt prints, so my money would most likely go there.

I actually don't know where to buy band shirts. I'd pay quite a bit for a bunch of band tshirts, but I haven't seen any for sale in the philippines. I have seen in hong kong, but around 10$ a pop.

Depends where you live I suppose. Here there are stores like Hot Topic that sell some band shirts (none really that I like though) and some various small stores that sell band shirts and gear. I get mine online for the most part.

I don't know why people hate the style so much. I think it's because it's the "popular" thing. My sense is most people on this site are not "popular"... they feel like they are on some "I'm an individual" type bull****. I'm unique.. YEAH!

All I know is, when you wear clothes like Abercrombie, girls think it looks good, you actually look nice and presentable, and parents and everybody else thinks it looks clean. Messy hair, band teeshirts and grungy jeans do not look good. Girls think, just another loser, the older crowd thinks it's just some punk, and overall it just doesn't look good.

Because maybe, just maybe; you don't need it to be cool. A tight shirt and hole infused shorts shoudln't make ya cool. You should make you interesting. Basically its a $400 cool tax for people too afraid to take a god damn risk.

i hate the two companies simply cause the people who wear that crap seem to all be generally the same type of person. definitely gonna be white, usually from a liberated home, a sub urban kinda area. thats GENEREALLY speaking, I can be much more specific about the type of people who wear this crap and I would probably be describing around 15-20 % of the people who wear either of the two.

plus they plaster their name all over the damn clothing. and seriously, since when the hell did it become okay to buy jeans with holes and bleach stains on them for 200 dollars? ridiculous

i think some ppl are so into not doing what others are they wont do something even if its good/smart. they just try to conform with the ppl who claim they dont want to conform. i mean when you walk by a group and everybody is wearing a black shirt with the name of some band in big letters across the front (sound familiar?) it looks stupid and there is no individuality. at least these places have different colors and there are different designs for the shirts. i personally do wear it but i also wear other clothes.

and im not saying you guys neccesarily fall into that category but i have seen a lot of ppl that do

I don't hate brands. That would be absurd. But the shirts they make look damn generic, and hey turn people into walking advertisements for their company by plastering their name everywhere. No thank you.

I don't like their graphic shorts that much, I've gotten some great graphic tees in other stores. I do not like having their logo in my shirts because i don't find that attractive.

-theCHUD-

People of all races wear hollister and abercrombie. I know plenty of black people and mexicans who wear it. And who cares if they plaster their name on the clothing? That's the point. You want people to know what brand it is. That's the point of designer style clothing. (When it comes to tee shirts). Not to mention, they have humor tees, which don't have the brand on it at all. And, not to mention, the polo shirts, longs sleeve button downs, etc, all have just the little moose logo on them. Just like Polo Ralph Lauren (the polo player), Just like Lacoste (the alligator), etc. The only shirts they have with their name all over it is SOME tee shirts.

Not to mention the jeans are not 200 bucks. Abercrombie they are about 90 bucks for jeans, and Hollister I believe they are about 60 ish.

I hate it because most of them shop there to be "cool" for wearing brand name clothes. Then they proceed to discuss how awesome their clothes on.
