No he hasn't. I'm sick of people thinking I'm some moron who was won over by charm and rhetoric because I'm an Obama supporter.

He also writes some of his speeches himself. I don't know if he still does though; I would think that his time would be mostly consumed by his job.

Every public speaker uhs and umms a lot, it gives you time to form your thoughts and think critically, they don't just blurt out whatever comes to their mind first, I don't think I've seen someone who didn't do this.

Some of Obama's campaign speeches were the best I've heard ina long time. His speech on race almost got me to cry.

The whole "Messiah" line is just a Limbaugh talking point his fans keep regurgitating.

delivering a speech from a teleprompter is more than just reading.

and while i agree that Obama should cut down on the ums, it's a tough habit to break.

when you're speaking to a lot of people 1 second of silence feels like an eternity, so you automatically want to fill that silence with something.

i find him inspiring, and can easily over-look the ums and ahs.

I am not an Obama hater or anything like that and I don't talk politics alot but I was flipping through the channels saw him talking about Cuba and he stutters alot and says uhhh and umm alot like he is at a loss for words, I have seen him do this previously too. Maybe he is a great speechmaker but most of that isn't his doing with the whole Yes We Can thing.

Bauers-Twin
When he has memorized it or is reading it he is amazing..... but when its not scripted he will do the ummm's uhhhh's.... but i noticed that he does it more when he around other leaders, but when you watched him on Jay Leno a couple weeks back...... no stutters or anything... it dosent bother me it just shows he is thinking before he speaks..... unlike some people *cough* bush*cough*

good radio DJs don't um too much. but it takes a lot of work to get there.

great speakers knowthat silence is power. it gives time for your last sentence to roominate.

He reads very well off a teleprompter.
He has a very good voice.
He does a good job of putting emotion into his speeches.

But when he doesn't have a teleprompter he isn't the best. Better than Bush but i have definitely heard better.

I read somewhere that be brought 9 teleprompters with him to Europe. I don't know how that stacks up compared to other presidents, but it's completely ****ing ridiculous nonetheless.

But then again, the same article said he brought close to 500 people with him and 3 planes, and that's just ridiculous too.

I like how he made a lot of allusions in his major speeches, but most of his regular campaign speeches were the same talking points and clever lines. I swear toward the end of the election I could have delivered his speeches myself. "I can take *however many days left of campaign* days of their attacks, but you can't take 4 more years of Bush/McCain economics!"

He just overuses it and sometimes uses it for even the smallest of things. I can usually sense when he isn't using a teleprompter because he tends to stutter

I've never heard anyone say that he's a good public speaker.
Honestly, I wouldn't say he is. He says "uhh" a lot and adds unnecessary pauses all over the place.
I will also say that he is a better public speaker than Bush.
