Why do some people hate celebrities?

My theory is jealousy or simply that some people like to take their frustrations out on people with more money and notoriety than they have.

In any case, the hates celebrities get is unwarranted.

Sure, some of them are obnoxious, but there are obnoxious people everywhere.

I don't see why anyone cares anything about celebrities. All the award shows and stuff that glorify celebs just make me sick.

I don't think they hate celebrities, they hate the midia.

The media doesn't force feed celebrities to us. They simply fulfill a demand. People like their news to be dominated by celebrities. If they didn't, the media wouldn't bother.

Because I can, and there isn't a damn thing they can do about it.

There is not a good reason to hate someone, but there is not a good reason to love celebrities either. T

hey do a job, get payed really good for it, and they entertain. The moment they cross the line between, drawing attention and actually begging for it, is where all the hate comes from. Some celebrities let's say Lindsay Lohan for eample (just an example don't mean to offend any fans), see that they are growing old of, they are not the hype now (with all the bieber, gaga, cyrus, jonas thing going on) They start a BIG drug issue,sex scandal, drunk driving (it's a common thing in them) then go to court just to get attention (or who knows maybe they truly have a problem) but they are the worth in the mouth of everyone for a moment again. It is at that point that people start to dislike celebrities. Personally I don't love them, I do admire some work but for me they are just like normal people, with millions of dollars, big houses, lots of attention, nice bodies and that floss everyday. An average joe on steroids if you may, still an average joe

I don't care if they live or die, or anything about them. They come. They go. There will always be another crop to replace the current crop. To be fair, this is no different than any other group of people.

I came into this thread out of curiosity to see if I was missing something. Nope. I probably spent more time typing this post then I have thought about celebrities in the past year.

Well, first of all, I didn't ever say that people should love celebrities. As you say, they are just normal people.

I don't have any problem with people being annoyed by Lindsay Lohan's antics. I don't like her whatsoever. She strikes me as somebody with no personal accountability. The problem arises when people paint the entire celebrity population (which tons of people do) with a bad brush because of celebritards like Lohan. The majority of them don't have her issues.

Do not think jealously or envy is the main reason. I suppose that they are annoyed perhaps by the huge level of attention they get and perhaps also by the idea that they are getting more money then they believe is fair for what they do.Though this seems more to do with the culture rather then with the celebrities themselves . i hate celebrities because

1: over paid for doing what boss says, ok... everyoen dose that but they do nothing special besides jump how high they have to vs some one risk their life get (you) out of your house while it's on fire

2: you can always count on a celebritie being on the news for months at end about some stupid that happens every day.

"zomg she drived drunk she got dui" yup anyotehr person you hear it once mand thats that

"Zomg she got busted with weed" we wouldn't even hear some that stupid on news... a drug bust yes

3: jail like wtf i heard of good behavorier but dang. you get a due you get 90 days in jail/house rest depneding on on things a celebritie will get 3 days and 2 day house rest because they cry in a cell

pretty much sum it up on my behalf.

I don't inherently hate celebrities, however, many never cease to provide me with more than ample reason to dislike them. I also am bothered by the amount of attention given to celebrities, but that is another issue.

They don't contribute anything useful to society to begin with. Sure, but entertainment isn't a necessity required to survive on the planet. All they do is hog the news with their latest updates about getting high.

First of all, the usefulness of entertainment is subjective. Some people would go nuts without entertainment.

Secondly, most celebrities don't engage in irresponsible behavior. Just a handful of them. You are unfairly generalizing.

Thirdly, lots of people don't provide anything particularly useful to the world. Doesn't justify hate against them.

Thirdly, why do you keep avoiding addressing your silly hyperbole. Scum of the planet=terrorists, child molesters, rapists, etc. Why do you think it's appropriate to conflate 90% of celebrities with true scum?

And finally, most of the time the media portrays them as nothing that's remotely true. Of course only the foolish and disillusioned would fall for such lies.

In a sense we're looking at something that doesn't even exist.

I just hate the celeberty's that think that they are more worth then a normal men.

Jealousy may play a role.

Some people are weirdos, some people are bullies, what can you do.
