I have to say, that if Obama loses this election, it will be because of horrible campaigning by the Democrats. They take forever to respond to attacks and sometimes respond poorly. They don't address the problems against them, and they promote the wrong ideas at the wrong time. Not to mention that they haven't taken advantage of opportunities of the failure of the Bush admin. A GOLD MINE THERE.

For example, Obama talks about raising taxes. WHY would you talk about that when the economy is doing horrible?? NOONE wants higher taxes, especially in a time like this.

Another example, we are in an energy crisis right now. So who in the right mind would refuse to allow a bill that would increase our energy output and decrease our dependence on foreign nations?! What a stupid move!

Another example, McCain doesn't know crap about the economy, and at the moment, it is doing pretty poorly. SO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THIS!

There are numerous other examples. Despite teh fact that McCain isn't like by many Republicans, they were still able to gather behind him. Why can't the Democrats do this?

This race is getting closer and closer, and there is still a chance for McCain to win. If they do, it will be because of horrible campaigning. The Republicans won on good campaigning in 2000, they won on good compaigning in 2004, and they could possibly win in 2008 as well.

I think it's terrible decision by the dems. Obama is one of the worst canidates they could have picked for the presidential election and they picked him anyways. I'm not saying any party has extrodinary canidates, but Obama, was a terrible pick. There are so many better dems that could have run and I would have maybe even liked, but Obama is definitely a bad pick for this historic election.

I think hes gonna win, McCain picking Palin was a big mistake which I think can cost him the election. But in the end I dont think either are a good choice.

What??!?! Picking Palin was a GREAT choice, it draws in the heavy conservatives that were skeptical about McCain, McCain draws in Barely Conservatives and Independents while, Palin draws in The heavy Conservatives. That was a great move by McCain, no way was that a big mistake by McCain.

Except it pushes away the Independents and swing-voters like myself. I disagree with everything Palin believes in and don't think she is fit to be a VP. If he had chosen someone more suitable and knowledgable, then I would probably vote for him.

Not necessarily, I think McCain is an ok choice for the country, definitely in my Opinion better than Obama, and since the VP, really doesn't have a heck of alot of power it's really not as bad of a choice for the country as you may think.

Well for the Record im Canadian and dont know much about the election (Havent been following it really), but from what ive seen all shes been doing is embarrasing herself, not knowing what a VP does and talking about a nuclear war with Iran. Her lack of experience doesnt help either, never even met a foreign head of state yet shes running for VP? Doesnt seem like the best choice imo.

two problems with that argument. One McCain might die (and don't say "but look at his mom" because ill just say "but look at his dad"). This other: Dick Chaney has shown us that vice presidents can have more power then you think as well as a lot of influence....

umm and so does 90% of the congress!! You are aware that most of the congress voted the same and McCain.. Why? Because bills have become one sided, it's become more democrat vs republican, than Issues vs Issues.

But it undercut most of his attacks on Obama...he's constantly bashing him for no experience, and turns around and picks a candidate that is less qualified than Obama. Don't give me executive experience crap...she was the mayor of a town with a pop. under 10,000. And she managed to put it 22 million dollars in debt.

John kerry lost because he didn't attack bush enough Obama seems to understand what he needs to do and seems to be doing good at it. But the Republicans mean spirited campaign filled with lies seems to be hurting him more and making him have to explain himself then what the policies he want to talk about. I think Mccain is throwing lies because he dosn't want the media focusing on his policies and more about his lies toward Obama. It's really sad

I doubt they'll be against it if they know what it means and that we have socialist programs already like public schooling, Social Security (Come on, it's in the name), Medicare, food stamps and more. No one complains about these "socialist" ideas.

No it will racism.

The white working class voters who always vote democrat but say they are undecided

PS: Palin was too get a week in the media, and send the attention away from Obama. Really shes not going to get any independent, she might even lose McCain some independents because shes to "right wing" for them. She won't get any Hillary voters, although shes a woman they don't like her stance on abortion so Palin won't get those voters. People can tell shes inexperienced by the interview and the fact that she doesn't answer any questions while campaigning

She will get that 22% of America who supports Bush, and the other voters that McCain gained was because of her image.McCain has a team of 30 people to protect her image.

But you can tell he wants the Hillary voters by choosing Palin(but it hasnt worked), and going pn TV shows like the view etc...

Palin was good in the short term, but in the long term she will hurt the campaign, mainly because the Palin bump has faded away

McCain picking Palin has got him so much MEDIA. The media that he wasn't getting. If anything Palin will win him the election.

Agreed. No one cared about McCain until he picked her. Like no one gives two thoughts to Biden, no one gives two thoughts to McCain, so Palin was really the publicity that he needed.

I think Obama will lose because of his inexperience. Many parts of his campaign were flawed. Not only that, but the Obama vs Hillary really split the democrats, whereas it was a pretty easy victory for McCain and he managed to get on the ticket without losing half of Republican voters.

Also, on a somewhat related note, I read on CNN today that Joe Biden finally stepped up to the plate and spoke up and started harping on McCain and Palin... About time. Palin's already had a (very hilarious and accurate) mocking of her on SNL. >_>

If he loses I think it's a mix of 3 things.

1. His inexperience
2. His policies (namely taxes)
3. The Palin factor

The Palin factor being the poll increases McCain receives when Obama attacks Palin. I think she has energized conservative women to vote and participate more-so in this election than any others. Not all women believe in abortion or support the radical feminist movement.

Actually I do complain about those programs. Not because I don't like the things they try to achieve, but that the government does them so poorly and with so much waste and increases my taxes while doing it. So actually I do understand what socialism is and still disagree with it.

This may or may not be a silly question.

Has anything happened yet that would have sealed the fate of the election? Did McCain win the moment he chose Palin? Did Obama lose the moment he was...black? Or will this election come right down to the wire on Election day?

The race is very competative with the candidates very close in the polls. Earlier this year everyone was expecting the democrats to win by a comfortable margin because that's how it tends to go historically when the incumbent president is unpopular, but McCain is doing a lot better than most people expected and that's making Obama supporters nervous. It'll be very close though.

Erm, what about blacks who vote for Obama just because he's black? Blacks are in greater numbers turning out for Obama than racists are for McCain.

I think Obama will lose because he supports partial birth abortion (which will veer away the evangelicals), is against off-shore drilling (which will veer away most poor people who drive), and because he sends this message that he's some sort of messiah when most people of voting age see him for what he is, an inexperienced senator. Also, his connections to Ayers and Wright pretty much seals the deal.

Do not insult my intellect-I, with an IQ of 163, am a McCain supporter (albeit one who supports him simply as the lesser of two evils). McCain may not know much about the economy, but at least he realizes that the present corporate income taxes-which are the second highest in the world, by the way-are extremely hindering economic growth.

[QUOTE="ElectronicMagic"]I am voting for Barack Obama, but I believe he won't win. The sad fact is that there are too many racists in this country.Genetic_Code

Add to that his anti-gun stand wanting to restrict concealed weapons permits to military and law enforcement issue only. Which by doing so all he'd be doing is taking guns out of the hands of law-abiding citizens, criminals will still have guns in plentiful supply. So the whole lot of NRA members will vote against Obama just based on this one issue. Bad idea to take a stand against a 2nd amendment right. The 2nd amendment...the 1st being freedom of speech...so our forefathers deemed the right to bear arms right near the top of amendments to be, just behind our freedom of speech. That's a bad, bad idea, the US was built on the constitution, someone that is looking to change it by removing/drastically altering one of the founding amendments is going to be looking at a bad reaction from alot of people. So gun owners and activists won't likely be voting for Obama. Yet another group he's successfully alienated through his campaigning, which just goes to the 'Bad Campaigning' choice.

[QUOTE="gamer_10001"]I don't really care what McCain and Palin have to say. McCain's voting record from the last few year speaks for itself.ferrari2001

umm and so does 90% of the congress!! You are aware that most of the congress voted the same and McCain.. Why? Because bills have become one sided, it's become more democrat vs republican, than Issues vs Issues.

What did my comment have to do with Congress... exactly.

the people who carry concealed weapons wouldn't vote for Obama anyway

Citizens carrying around guns on the street is a recipe for disaster

I think if Obama loses it will be because not enough of his supporters actually went out on election day and voted.
