I totally agree. I am British and I love our music culture but I also like American artists. Different countries tend to be stronger in different genres, thats true, but sometimes that is what adds to the appeal of the genre. For example I would say that country and western is predominantly American where as Grime is dominated by the UK, and these differences lend themselves to the specific genre.

The American music scene has been extremely dissapointing the last three or so years whilst in that time British music has had somewhat of a revelation. It will change again soon aswell.

edit: just like the American music scene was superior from 1998-2002

For the most part the British music scene has been superior to the American scene since the 60s and it still holds true today.  It doesn't help that country music comes from this country.

I admit they are over-rated, but they were better then the Rolling Stones and the Beetles... well, in my opinion anyways.

Per capita there's a ton of good british music but I don't think it really "beats" American Music by an terms.

Also Americans invented just about every popular form of music

Jazz, blues, rock, country, rap, R&B, and punk just to name a few.

Helloooo mr topic creator person, it does in your opinion. Oh schnap, end 'o discussion. You like lots of British bands, as do I, but there's tons of great American bands lurking around.

Elvis alone beats anything else out there, and I'm not even American. He is in fact the richest dead celebrity, so I guess there are at least a few people who like him. Oh, and don't forget Ol' Blue Eyes, Frank Sinatra. Not my cup of tea, but he was and remains a huge person in musical history.

I give the british credit for creating punk music, however north america took it and turned it from that lame "OI, anarchy" garbage with its heavy base lines, power chord solos and terrible lyrics and turned into something that doesn't make the ears bleed.

Say hello to Nirvana, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, pretty much any early 90's bands, dance music and lets not get started on hip hop and R&B and Jazz and blah blah blah.

The point is, both sides have music that owns. So this thread = fail.

let me correct you, not just british music but European music owns American music. Europeans are just more creative then americans who are under the evil control of MTV. Europeans are often inventing new styles spanning many genres unlike America that  is too much under rockist influence.
