Alrighty is it just me or does nobody pat attention to songs? I mean I can't entirely recall anybody going, "Dude!! Listen to those drums!!" I play drums so I listen to it but whenever i point it out people they're like, "Uumm...Cool..." Is it just where I live or is it like that everywhere?

I listen to a good drum fill and all that. A good drummer can make a good song.

Depends on the person...

I play drums...Im usually more drawn the rhythm of drums and bass...I try to listen to the over all sound of the song and not instruments though...

Ehh alot of peopel tend to be drawn more to the guitar because it sticks out to them...but if you play any of the instruments you tend to listen to htem a little better

Not me. Drums is the first instrument of a song I pay attention to. I love beats.

Without drums (or the rhythm section period), the song wouldn't sound right.

drums make or break a song.

an analogy I read somewhere talked about how the drums are the canvas for a song, the bass is the general flow/shape of the picture. The guitar and vocals are the details.

i dont usually listen to drums unless im listening to metal. i love double bass pedals just goin at it. really enhances the song. theyre ok most of the time. what you should really be asking is "does anyone ever listen to bass guitar?" i mean seriously, in 90% of songs you just cant hear the bass guitar.

because the bass in what you're probably listening to is playing the bass notes of what the guitar is playing, therefore blending the two into one sound. Unless the bass is just doing it's own thing, the untrained ear wont notice it as easily, but it's still there.

more so in metal do I pay attention to drums, for the most part it sounds very boring and repetitive to me, but still a necessary part of a band.

Depends. If you're just a big loud metronome, no. But if you're playing complex rhythms with little drum solo's, then totally.

I usually try to listen to all of the instruments. One of the reasons I like Shadows Fall is because of their drummer... same thing for Nile.

I think the drums are awesome, and they often make or break a song. For instance I wouldnt' like the song Youth of a Nation by POD as much without the drums. It's a very basic instrument, but in the hands of someone skilled, they can be freakin' awesome. :)

at a lot of concerts, its the only thing you can hear, depending on what type of music the band plays.

I listen to the drums if they're meant to work with the song. If the drums are just an afterthought, I ignore them.
