[QUOTE="XaosII"][QUOTE="Addict187"]So I spend $20 I owe some stranger $4.00 just for doing there job. But if a spend $100 I now owe him $20. I don't think so. "I just pay the bill" tipping is for **** and suckers. If I get bad services I just complain to the owner and get a discount and the retard server who thinks I owe him a living can get fired. If I was running a restaurant I would have zero tolerance to bad servers. It is in the owners best interest to make sure you leave happy not the servers so you my return in the future. I'm tired of this I have to tip to get good service mentaltay. you don't and should stop and take complaints to management, Addict187
If you were running a restaurant, you would want your customers to tip your waiters. I dont think you understand how the food business works at all.
If you can't afford to tip, you probably shouldn't be going out to eat at a restaurant. You can always cook at a home, for cheaper, and no one to tip.
I have lots of money. I just don't go handing it to people for simple tasks. I live in Canada so a server makes $9.50 hour plus tips. a good night in a nice restaurant one can make $200-300 sometimes $500 in one night I'm not kidding. I have done it and that is way I do not tip. Got better things to do with my money then help make some punk better off then me. I agree. I also live in Canada and I never understood the requirement to tip waiters. I used to work in a call centre getting paid 10 dollars an hour. That job is a lot harder and more stressful than waiting tables. I obviously didn't get tips. But I was still working in customer service. Waiters get paid by the hour, it shouldn't be "required" to tip them. That being said, I still will leave a tip if the waiter provided exceptional customer service. But I don't tip them for average service.Â
However, delivery drivers are a different story. Around here at least, they do not get an hourly wage. Delivery costs 4 dollars and that goes to the driver. And that's all that goes to the driver. 10% of their earnings go to their boss every night. So with the cost of gas and maintenance (which the driver needs to pay for since they use their own vehicle) they make very little. If it weren't for tips the job won't be worth it. So I always tip the delivery guy because I know they need it. Waiters don't need it.Â
