Why doesn't Optimus Prime transform into a hybrid?

What kind of fuel economy does Optimus Prime get? I can't imagine him getting very good mileage as one of those big diesel trucks. If he were a real hero determined to save Earth, shouldn't he be transforming into a hybrid?

Optimus Prime transforms into a shape that looks like a Big truck. Thats just who he his. He shouldn't transform into a hybrid cuz he wouldnt look as cool. As stated above he's a GIANT ROBOT that is powered by energon, so it's not like he has an actual engine that burns diesel anyways....so the only difference is what he looks like. and a huge 18-wheeler is way cooler looking than a Prius....LOL

The shows target audience was 8 year olds, around there anyway. And when you're 8 do you know of Fiji or NZ? Probably not, definitely wouldn't associate a certain color scheme with them anyway.
