it makes no sense to me, tons of bigger, smarter adults die, but somehow the stupid kid always survives. For example in Poseidon that one kid somehow got himself trapped and almost drowned because he was being too stupid and annoying. I know its a taboo subject, but I think more kids should die in movies, not because I like seeing kids die, but because its realsitic. No kid could survive a dinosaur attack or zombie invasion. Plant terror was great because it showed that one kid blowing his face off with a pistol, that surprised me and took a lot of guts.

also how is showing a kid die in a movie that bad? Showing tons of adults get slaughtered is fine, but show one kid die and it instantly becomes taboo? Sounds kinda odd to me.

A kid died in that old Blob remake. Twas shocking at the time. Kid gets popped in Hostel 2 also. They don't generally die in movies onscreen but there are plenty of movies that feature a dead kid as a major plot point. Its just not going to happen in a big budget movie that's aimed for general audiences even if its a PG13.

That kid became An Hero.

Didn't a kid die in like... 28 Weeks Later or something?

Kids die in movies but usually its something off screen unless its tragedy. Honestly I see a fine line in entertainment horror and children gore. I dont want to see kids get chopped up and I'm sure many will agree with me(well off of the forum of course were e-peen is not measured).

If you really want all kinds of people dying, watch graphical documentaries about WWII. That'll show you.

is it more morally wrong to show one kid die than it is to show tons of adults slaughtered? How is it much worse?

Why? It's a movie there is no wrong in a movie where all (or most) of the people die. Its just boring when the kid's ignorance always saves himself... Hey I myself am a kid and I don't mind other kids dying

Cos people wouldn't want to watch a film where little kids are being brutally slaughtered...

yeah why? Its a horror movie. Why is it morally wrong for little kids to die and adults are not? To even the field, kids should die too.

Who don't you not ask a sick question like that?
Nobody cares about adults dying. Even adults don't care. But I don't think people want to see an innocent little child die a painful, brutal death.

Oh, they die alright. One that comes to mind is that kid in Final Destination 2 that got crushed by that huge pane of glass. :? I just think the reason why we don't seem them die that often in movies is probably because the screenwriters aren't all that comfortable with seeing them die on screen.

It's just a natural conservative impulse in a society that generally values a childs life higher than an adults. The reactions tend to be negative in a film context so writers tend to shy away from casually killing children unless it's needed for a major plot point. I remember a couple of kids getting whacked pretty early in the film Mimic which was a suprise as the characters were kind of being set up as the typical bumbling kids who somehow survive. They didn't.

Well the thing is, if you don't like seeing children getting chopped up, one could argue that perhaps you need to evaluate why you like seeing adults getting chopped up.

But like I was saying, they were all boys. Either that, or weird looking aliens.

Though I hear that in the new Aliens vs Predator movie, they chest-burst a baby.
