ROFL, quick less in ecomics. If you over simulate the economy with money that has no real valve. That money becomes worthless. Take a look at the civil war era every state was printing money, most of it was worthless.

That's why you keep it a secret, and don't tell any one. That way, people will assume there stil isn't any money around.

If there is more money in circulation the value of the currency goes down. Before you decide to question people like Obama who understand the economy, learn a bit about it yourself. Printing more money will not help because the US Debt would STILL BE THERE.

The products that you buy would also increase in price(to keep supplying the consumer), and if all the companies, shops, etc decide to raise there prices straight away the USA would have hyper inflation and the US Dollar value(exchange rates) would go down. If you want to know more, read this informative article.

There is no way banks and financial companies are not going to notice a huge increase in the amount of money in the U.S. The Dollar's value would go way down and hurt the whole country.

Actually a higher inflation target would probably be beneficial right now, considering our debt overhang.

Maybe so, but TC is suggesting printing lots of money solely to give to US Citizens, which would trigger hyper-inflation, and that isn't very good.

They did that in Germany in the 1920's and '30's. Bread cost wheelbarrow-fulls of money. Kids played with stacks of bills in the streets because they were worthless. Money doesn't have any value if there isn't something of substance (goods, valuables, services) to back it up.

So hypothetically, what happens if i break into the Federal Reserve, print money off secretly for myself, and then use that money. Assume that I turned off the counter mechanism so that no one knows I printed off the money. When I spend this money at a store, the store doesn't know that money has been printed off, so they don't inflate prices. How have I affected the economy?

For one person, the effect on inflation would be fairly negligible. But if you increase teh total amount of currency in use, you devalue it by whatever amount.

If one person did it, it wouldn't matter. But say everyone in your town does it. Now the local businesses raise their prices because people have more money. The only way TC's idea would work is if a very small amount of people did it, but that wouldn't solve any problems.

A better idea would be a 50% savings tax on those with over one million dollars. That'd see your debt off.

If your giving money to Citzens I think they will know you have mass printed money. This is a absolutely terrible idea. Also I'm sure most store owners are US Citizens in the USA.

The government does not print money. The Fed does, and the Fed is not even apart of the government. If we got rid of the Fed it would help alot, and then the government could print its own money. Well they could start printing money at any time.

Are you referring to your town? because if the whole country did that (which would be impossible, butwe will let it slide) the other countries would naturally raise their prices, because their customers are willing to pay more. Your whole town could get away with it, but then the local businesses would fail and you would have a bigger problem.

So if use the money that I get from my job to support businesses like I normally do, but then use the money I printed off to buy additional items from outside the country, how does that make my local businesses go out of business and increase the unemployment process? Additionally, you don't need to add the condescending ellipsis at the end of your sentence to get your point across.

A devalued dollar has its benefits. It'll shrink our trade deficit by making our exports less expensive (and conversely, by making our imports more expensive).

I am not saying you are wrong, but could youcreate a specific example that illustrates this devaluation using some graphs, some math, and a logical evaluation of the scenario?
