[QUOTE="mindstorm"] As far as your second statement, are you trying to argue that there is purpose and design in the universe without a "purposer" or designer?bloodling

Absolutely. I know, it sounds a lot like a god, but I dont see it as a god.

So is this true purpose within the creation or are you arguing this is only an apparent purpose within the creation?

This is an apparent purpose, we had to be there, but some god didn't choose to put us here.

I don't believe in God because ... wait a second, I do! But I believe in God due to many reasons, not simply one simple argument that explains it all. If I were to explain why I believed in God then I'd end up writing a wall of text that would create the biggest war in OT history. mindstorm

[QUOTE="Hammstray"]

I believe in God! I mean, if when we die we don't go anywhere then life itself is pointless and that is why so many people are depressed in our world! God is real, have you seen all the miracles he has done! He created this amazing earth, all the people, even the smallest creatures, he created! Do you believe in that science crap that we are just creatures made out of chance and have no one who is always watching over us and protecting us? That is just sad if we didn't...

testfactor888

This is the same argument that my real dad used to throw at me because he believes in god. Every time I hear it I facepalm in real life.

edit - No offense to you and your belief's even though I know I came off as pretty offensive likely. You are allowed to believe in whatever you want of course. Just saying this argument always gives me a headache.

I agree with that. You shouldn't pressure anyone into believing anything, even if you think your way is right so I respect your opinion.

Because the Great Architect is a much more powerful being by comparison, able to create Great Houses for which his creations reside in, leaving only his physical laws to which we naturally abide by, as he is busy creating many more Great Houses.

This is an apparent purpose, we had to be there, but some god didn't choose to put us here.

Was there a cause to us having to be there, divine or otherwise?

The only reason I have for now is because there just can't be nothing, there had to be something. The whole universe could not simply not exist in my opinion. I believe life and conscience is part of whatever created the universe.

As for us being on the earth, I think it's just a coincidence. I believe there are other planets and an infinite number of universes, and I believe that once you die, you might end up on another planet.

While I don't agree with your ultimate conclusion and believe your own evidence actually points towards a Creator-God, I do agree that the question "What if nothing existed at all?" is an interesting one to ponder. :P

I agree there could be a god but bottom line I don't believe in heaven and hell and religion in general so I don't think it matters all that much if there's a god or not. Plus, I just don't believe it.

You can't really have a reason for having a lack of a belief other than you have seen no reasons for the belief in question.

I don't believe in God because he has not been conclusively proven. A belief in God could not even reach a certainty level of becoming a scientific theory. Does this mean there is definitely no such thing as God? Of course not. However I do not believe in flying spaghetti monsters either. They could exist but I chose not to believe in them because there is no conclusive proof, much the same as some devine being that lives outside space-time that has infinite power.

because there is no way a human could know anything about him if he WAS in fact real. so all the stuff people say about him can't be true because noone has ever seen or met him EVER.

He is not real, thats why. He is something made up by the human race to comfort themselves so that they think there is something after death. Its a survival instinct.

How is saying Hail Satan offensive but Praise Jesus isn't. It's a matter of choice in who you believe in and if he want's to worship Satan that is his business. He should be allowed to say it. Honestly though him saying it was a joke but still(Least I assume he was).

I've found nothing in life to support the existence of god - or at least the god described in various religions and texts. My mind is very analytical and I can not accept the existence of an all powerful being with no concrete proof.

When I found out Santa wasn't real, God sort of went with him. I was like 5 or 6 when I found out Santa wasn't real. At that point God wasn't much more than another character in the pantheon of childhood fictional figures. God was just another story that adults told kids. I guess you could even say that I never really believed, because I don't think a five year old really knows what its like to believe in something. Sucks that I still had to go to Church every Sunday all the way through confirmation at age 16.

So then because Jesus' followers are screw ups just as he said they were his claim to divinity is invalid? While I do not believe the vast majority of people who claim to be Christians are actually Christian, it is a testimony of God's mercy that he would welcome such hypocrites like myself into his Kingdom.

High ground is high ground. when you're on high ground you're looking downon your targets so you get a better view than you would if you were on even ground. So the best marksman usually take high ground. God is a call sign used to designate a lead flight commander, a commander ofhigh ground units OR more commonly the best sniper. They are the observers, the dictators. They are the gods of the battlefield.

I don't know how it happened but I believe that it did and scientist's are still working on the when and why. You make it seem like since there is no proof that god doesn't exist than that automatically means he does. That's what alot of religious people try to do. You are the one saying he exists the burden of proof is on you.
