[QUOTE="testfactor888"][QUOTE="Hammstray"] We all have proof that Santa Claus, the Tooth Fairy and the Easter Bunny don't exist But we don't have proof that God doesn't exist and how do you think the universe was made, the big bang? The Big Bang sounds alot better than some overbearing father figure of a god who stands over us and wants us to be good people. Least that's the way I feel about it. How did the Big Bang happen then? Randomly, by chance, we were made?Hammstray
By that logic you can say the same thing about god, how was he made? The most common responses are he made himself, he just is, or god works in mysterious ways.
I want somebody to answer this, so did the Big Bang happen by chance then? I believe God didn't make our universe by chance or randomosity.HammstrayThe Big Bang according to atheists didn't occur because of a conscious divine creator. For the majority of atheists, they reject the idea of a creator and it would follow suit that they'd have to logically believe that the Big Bang happened by chance as does most everything else except for that which is controlled by consciousness, namely our lives.
Nobody believe in the tooth fairy, Easterbunny northerotund present toater. Kids do, but other than it's just to color up the holiday. Traditions are just traditions. The kids like it an we all get a laugh out of it because a cartoon-ish character that gives out presents or candy or whatever is just silly.
No, the idea of eternity is simply incomprehensible logically speaking and the idea of humans retaining consciousness long after their brains quit operating is very unbelievable. So is there an afterlife?

[QUOTE="imlivid"][QUOTE="Hammstray"] How did the Big Bang happen then? Randomly, by chance, we were made?HammstrayIt's not know what caused the Big Bang, if anything. What is known is that it did happen. I want somebody to answer this, so did the Big Bang happen by chance then? I believe God didn't make our universe by chance or randomosity.Humans will never have all the answers. The idea that our tiny minds could absorb and comprehend the enormity of the universe through religion or science is imo ludicrous on its own. The rational thing to do is to understand what we can and accept that there are things we cannot.
[QUOTE="testfactor888"][QUOTE="Hammstray"]I don't believe there is So what is the purpose of life? Why does life have to have a purpose. Thing's worked out to where we evolved into what we are today. Mostly by chance as if the Dinosaurs did not go extinct we would not have become what we are. If you need a god to give meaning to your life thats fine by me but not everyone needs that.So is there an afterlife?

We all have proof that Santa Claus, the Tooth Fairy and the Easter Bunny don't exist But we don't have proof that God doesn't exist and how do you think the universe was made, the big bang? I explained myself earlier.[QUOTE="wstfld"]Same reason I stopped believing in Santa Claus, the Tooth Fairy and the Easter Bunny. Hammstray
I find the existance of a Creator God simply illogical, I'm more of a dependent-arising person myself.
[QUOTE="edinsftw"][QUOTE="Hammstray"] So what is the purpose of life?Hammstray
to live
So life is pointless? Not really, if you're into existentialism, you could say that the subject gives the meaning to his own life. If you're a nihilist though, yeah, life is without objective meaning or purpose.[QUOTE="testfactor888"][QUOTE="Hammstray"]I don't believe there is So what is the purpose of life?So is there an afterlife?
Hammstray
Nothing. People search high and low for an answer as to the meaning of life but in reality there is no meaning, no purpose to it really. We are born, we live, and we die that is all. No purpose, no meaning, other than what purpose we humans give it.
[QUOTE="edinsftw"][QUOTE="Hammstray"] So what is the purpose of life?Hammstray
to live
So life is pointless? Life has no point other than to be born, live, and die. You can make your life have purpose by what you do with it.[QUOTE="Hammstray"]We all have proof that Santa Claus, the Tooth Fairy and the Easter Bunny don't exist But we don't have proof that God doesn't exist and how do you think the universe was made, the big bang? I explained myself earlier. But but Santa Claus did exist... He was a 4th century Bishop of Myra, obviously he doesn't now but his origin is dervied from this bishop. Also I don't believe in God.[QUOTE="wstfld"]Same reason I stopped believing in Santa Claus, the Tooth Fairy and the Easter Bunny. wstfld
The presence of evil. Either he isn't omnipotent and can't remove evil, or he isn't benevolent and chooses not to. In either case, it's someone I find unworthy of worship. Damn any "grand scheme that we couldn't understand." If it's a test, it is a cruel and unnecessary one.SeraphimGoddessOh God (Pun intended) don't use that quote. The religious people start freaking out and write 10 paragraph essays on why that isn't true and when you read it it is a bunch of garbage.
[QUOTE="edinsftw"][QUOTE="Hammstray"] So life is pointless?Hammstray
Is this thread pointless? yes
You evaded the question The point of life is to be born, reproduce and die, thus keeping the species going. Just like the animal kingdom, as we are animals at the end of the day. Another meaning of life is whatever that invidual sees as the meaning of life, it could be teaching children, travelling the world. The meaning of life is meaningful to the individual and you cannot pinpoint what the meaning of life is. People have tried but there is no definitive answer, there is a biological answer and then the personal answer.Yes, but we don't want many people to go to Hell.[QUOTE="gubrushadow"]so there are many atheists , well we dont want extra people in heavens:P Hammstray
EDIT: I am done here.
bye bye.[QUOTE="Hammstray"][QUOTE="edinsftw"]You evaded the question The point of life is to be born, reproduce and die, thus keeping the species going. Just like the animal kingdom, as we are animals at the end of the day.. But there's a bigger goal to this. Like, growing as a species, don't you think? Reproducing is just the means to do so.Is this thread pointless? yes

I believe all living things(plants-animals-people etc) are a part of a greater intelligence and consciousness that is beyond this reality, which happens to be the fabric of all existence.
the abrahamic god described in the bible loves you but is sending you to hell for an eternity... That character sounds a bit bi-polar
Because I don't believe in invisible beings that control everything? I mean in the long run the main reason why I don't believe in god is because I have yet to ever see anything to make me think something else is out there such as a creator. I know people who believe in god will say just look around at the beauty in life and thats all the proof you need but that is not enough for me. Short of him coming down in front of my face I will never believe in a divine creator.testfactor888Agreed. Of all the times i asked for " god " to give me a sign it existed, Never was there a peep. Therefore, It does not exist.
A combination of the problem of evil and finding God to be an unnecessary complication in explaining the natural world.xaosi was going to be snarky, but this answer is good enough.
I definitely believe in a Creator, but I don't believe it's anything humanity has even come close to understanding through it's religions.
