Any of you guys giving up or have given up on gaming (I am in no way letting go of a precious hobby and passion). If you are or have, why? I think it is just so sad to hear or see someone give up doing something they love or enjoy, whether it be gaming, playing instruments, reading, shooting, drawing, playing sports, etc. I hope some of you guys can come back and join our side some day8). But seriously, I just want to hear what you guys have to say:)

I gave it up for a while, 2 years actually, I just got back into it. Not sure why I stopped, I just found things that amused me more I guess.

I'm not about to give it up until college probably. I hate given up basketball because it just wasn't as interesting as it used to be, I think the same will happen to me with gaming eventually.

It sorta "died" involuntarily... not that I gave it up completely, just don't have time for it and the $ to keep getting new games

I haven't given it up, but I have stopped playing as much as I used to, which I 100% blame on how high games cost for next-gen consoles.

Too expensive, and my parents always refuse to drive to to the nearby store. I had to walk to the nearest Target with all my gift cards/money i got from my birthday and carry my Xbox/Halo3 the way back.

My 360 RROD'd a few months ago, and I can't be bothered to send it off (yes, I am THAT lazy). I've had quite a few gaming hiatuses, and it only takes one game to bring me back into full-time gaming, that will most likely be Mass Effect 2.

Basically the same for me. But I try to play often. My major in college is currently biology, but Im thinking of changing it to something that has to do with video games. Oddly enough, just like biology, computers are something I don't know a grand amount on. But I love video games, and I'm hoping I can find something that has to do with it in college.

I went from playing games every day to a couple times a week. I was always up on gaming news too. It is sad actually. I was very passionate about games and now I don't play them hardly ever, makes me wish I would of spent my time doing something else.

I was on a long break as well, but Fallout 3 just completely stolen my life right now, along with Rome: Total War.

consoles

no, im not a hater.

I just find the misjudgements of developers and publishers thinking console gamers are idiots and need dumbed-down games offensive.

As a primarily-PC gamer that thoroughly enjoys consoles, I know console gamers can handle the often-complex gaming mechanics found on the PC platform.

Yet the latest trend of multiplatforming games en masse is disgraceful.

It was better back in the day, when things were segregated...PC had its games, Nintendo had its games, etc.

Nothing really wows we me anymore, and I can only play a few times a year anyway. If a really good game comes out, I'll play it, but otherwise gaming is on the backburner for me.

I can imagine. If I were to start Fallout 3 right now, I know I would become a resident hermit,, and I kind of want to reserve my time for other things right now i.e drawing, movies etc.

I thought someone would catch me on that. While video games do bring some happiness, I would rather spend my time with something that benefits me in addition to the happiness I recieve doing it.

I can't afford the games and, they don't feel the same anymore. Games are supposed to be fun, developers only care about story and presentation these days. My movies, music, graphics, etc. has taken over gaming. I haven't really played anything in awhile, sometimes I go back to TF2 since I get bored easily. But, since yesterday I got my graphics tablet, i've been hooked. Games are too expensive. Console games are supposed to be around 30-40$, imo.

I have to take September-December off though because of Boot Camp.

I get 10 days leave afterwards though, I'll use that buy a new DS. My current one broke.

I haven't stopped playing game but I have been playing WAY less since May 2009. I just grew bored. New games didn't interest me and I was tired of the same ol' same ol'. I also met a wonderful girl so... ;)

I still play if I have time or have nothing else to do but I have other priorities now.

I haven't given it up and don't think I will anytime soon... I started when I was old enough to hold the Atari joystick... I work full time now and still have time to spend 1-2 hours a night gaming and still maitaining a social life. Time management ftw.

I suffer from bored gamer syndrome. It's when you play a game for about 30 minutes to an hour and you turn it off not to be played for about a week and you never end up finishing it. I have so many games and rarely play them it's ridiculous. Why you may ask? I have no idea. I only beat like 4-5 games this gen. Uncharted(Beat the first 2 days then never touched it again), MGS4, Oblivion(took about a year), Geow(friend begged me to beat it with him on coop) and Crysis. Besides that I own like 30 other games and have only played like 20 min in each. Dead space I got like 3 weeks ago and invested like 10 minutes in it.
