Why is hockey in the olympics?

I thought olympics was just for skiing and stuff that aren't really sports. If they're going to add hockey why don't they go ahead and add soccer.

a ore reasonable discussion would be; since there's ice dancing in the winter olympics whould there be regular dancing in the summer olypics? i'd love to see michael flatley sturt his stuff in london in 2012

OK I'll ask the Olympic committe to put in soccer on the next round. I have some inside connections so it will be good to go.
