Why is it acceptable to be racist agaisnt Americans?

A little while ago I read a thread about what peoples favorite video game enemy was. Somebody posted Americans, saying how he would love to have manned an machine gun on D- DAY to see how many of them he could slaughter. 2 or 3 people quoted his post saying how they agreed with him. Seriously,I dont understand why this is acceptable. No American could get away with a comment like that about any other race. People would jump on it, saying how it proves how ignorant and cocky Americans are. But how many people from other nations know everything about America? Someof them are just as ignorant as they say Americans are. Racism agaisnt Americans is just the latest in the increasing disturbing selection of double standerds. Including for comparason . . .

Black and White - Its prefectly acceptable for black people to call people crackers.

Men and Woman - A guy has sex with alot of different woman, he is a pimp (good), girl does she is a whore (bad)

And most recently

Americans and other parts of the world - Foreigners critizing or making fun of Americans is perfectly ok, but Americans laughing at or critizing Europeans or Asians often is taking as an out of line insult.

So Gamespot, what do you think? By the way, I purposly left out any details about myself, so think before you post. I look foward to inteligent replies. Doubt I'll get them, but I can hope. And I know my grammar and spelling are not great, no need to point it out.

also a thing i think is quite clever a comedia i think "glen wool" was on about how we cant have Merry Christmas anymore its got to be Holidays etc (whihc to me is BS) but anyways his point was then they have to change what they call their celebrations as well and it was rather funny so give it a watch LOL

Way to read my post. Racism doens't only apply to minorities. And The term race refers to the concept of dividing people into populations or groups on the basis of various sets of characteristics and beliefs about common ancestry. The most widely used human racial categories are based on visible traits (especially skin color, facial features and hair texture), and self-identification.

Pretty sure American is a race smart asses.

the white American male receives the MOST racism because we are the majority and not a minority. we can be the butt of all jokes and racial slurs and there's nothing we can do about it. of course, white American males throughout history dished out our fair share of racism/sexism to all other races and for that we must pay the price of having it thrown back in our face, bust honestly it doesn't bother. I don't feel the need to make federal cases out of words or to try to get special treatment or someone fired because of a joke or something obscene said to me. I'm a bigger man than that and can take it with a grain of salt. Seems to be that the problem with racism/sexism today isn't the fact that it's still around...but the fact that people try to use it as bargaining tools to get what they want. Oh well...if you want to degrade yourself and your culture for your own personal gain then go ahead. Like I said...I'm a bigger man than that.

In it's attempts to make it fair for minorities, America has given up it's honor. Welfare, gov.handouts, minority GPA curves, it's all BS if you ask me! Americans made this country great and now they dont care when otehrs try to tear it down. Call me racist, call me whatever you like, but I'm sick of race and I'm sick of stereotyping and the sheer stupidity of people!fiscope

That's not really the point. The point is that any form of extreme nationalistic pride can be offensive. It just depends on who the target is. It is no more or less acceptable for a person to say "I would like to machine gun Americans" than it is for a person to say "let's turn the Middle East into a parking lot."

I think the TC is trying to point out that this nationality based prejudice aimed at Americans is acceptable. When some Americans talk about "turning the Middle East into a parking lot", people get very offended (mostly outside of America), and the person who said it is seen as bad. But when people aim this same kind prejudice at Americans, the attitude is totally different, and it is suddenly acceptable. In other words, it's a double standard.

We should see all prejudice as equally horrible, that is all.
