why is japan screwing us over on games?

for example: kingdom hearts chain of memories

i like the kh series, but i couldnt stand the crappy gba game for it. and they(japan) get a full blown ps2 game with a sequel to it where you get to play as riku(still pissed i dont get to play that >.>) =(
