well xmas is meant to celebrate his bday but then what is the deal with new years? wouldnt it make more sense if the new year started on xmas

well xmas is meant to celebrate his bday but then what is the deal with new years? wouldnt it make more sense if the new year started on xmaspete_merlin

We dont start new years on Christmas...because a year...is 12 months.

To make a new year start on Christmas you would have to take some days off of December and add them to January.

Also, New Year's celebrations (and for that matter, Yule) both pre-date the life of Christ by quite a margin.

Christ's birthday was sometime in May I believe. Christmas has more to do with pagan tradition then it does Christianity.
