Being a captialist country, the US encourages large companies that make profits and improve living for many. Unfortunately, some of the countries go out of control and do more harm than good.

Unforunately, some companies know how to game the system. Monsanto is one of those companies.

I'm going to spend as much time and effort in replying to this thread as the TC did in starting it.

If you think President Obama is the only President to put questionable people in high-profile positions, you are incredibly naive.

Company creates product. People Buy product. I see no other reason that it would exist. It creates the BEST seeds, people want to grow more food in less area, Monsanto made that happen. If Monsanto wasn't around, your food would cost much more TC, much, much More.

Probably because God was feeling a bit like his Old Testament self when he allowed this company to exist.

No it wouldn't. Everything I buy is 100% organic and from countries that doesn't spray their food like crazy. Monsanto is ruining soil, running farmers out of business and making animals sick. I can't for the life of me understand why anyone would defend a company that's pure evil.

Monsanto creates seeds that allow for a greater volume of food to be grown in a smaller area. They hurt farmers when farmers steal from Monsantos, in the same respect that shoplifters are "hurt" when they're caught. More food = cheaper food, and more people fed. Monsanto is trying to provide the world with more food by creating the best seeds. Also, just something that organic food buyers usually dont clue into
There's no regulation on what can be called "organic" and what cannot be called "organic" There's a good chance your organic oranges, are the same as the regular oranges ;)
Actually, there is good regulation here on what's organic and not, plus my brother got his own garden where I get cucumbers and onions from. My father buys and slaughters his own sheep, so don't pretend you know what I eat. You're defending a company, just cause they're making a profit? For crying out loud over 300000 farmers have sued Monsanto. Plus then there is the fact that they bloody produce agent Orange. They're so called superior genetic seeds are mutant plant-life that kills or ruins soils. And last, their own seeds DIE after it's grown and you got to buy it all over again. It's an evil company, but apparently since they make money, they are alright in your book?

How is this any different from the companies like Whole Food that sell products for two to three times the price simply because its supposedly "organic".. Furthermore please provide us this evidence of where GE crops are destroying the soil.. Not defending Monsonto, they are jackasses.. But it seems like your pretty much just another counter fanatic comapred to Nibroc in which you priase "organic" foods.

There are no laws anywhere in NA that force companies to define "Organic" when they claim that on their produce. No companies are expected to prove their produce is organic, or grown without herbicides or pesticides in order to achieve the label of "organic". I'm defending a company because they help create more food for the world. A regular tomato seed produces a 1/2lb tomato, and Monsanto's tomatoes grow to be 2lbs? Great, 4x the food, meaning food is not only cheaper, but there's MORE food, meaning we can help people in developing countries that dont have the tech to improve their farming capabilities as we do. Yes, they attack farmers who are attempting to re-create Monsanto's seeds, so that the farmers can have more money. You dont get to steal the manufacturing blueprints for your model of car just because you bought a car. Stealing is stealing. "Evil" is not an objective term, It's an opinion. Please dont start to pretend your opinions are facts.

They also genetically alter fruits so they contain less nutrients when fully grown. By doing so, people need to buy more to get what they need to stay healthy. They don't make the best quality seeds unless you mean the ones which will generate the most profit.

Wait a second...I could be wrong, but doesn't Monsanto have its seeds accidently enter farmer's fields, then those seeds grow, then Monsanto charge those farmers for those seeds that grew? http://www.yesmagazine.org/issues/9-strategies-to-end-corporate-rule/organic-farmers-seek-legal-help-with-monsanto

I love when people join on the hating monsanto bandwagon without know anything about the company or anything about genetics

For instance-->

I do, actually. While you probably think it's cool to aim for personal attacks rather than sticking to topic at hand, that's not the best idea in this case.

you clearly don't

If you think expressing BT gene or glyphosphate causes fruit to yield more/less nutrients, then you clearly don't know what you are talking about.

I love when people join on the hating monsanto bandwagon without know anything about the company or anything about genetics

NEWMAHAY

I do, actually. While you probably think it's cool to aim for personal attacks rather than sticking to topic at hand, that's not the best idea in this case.

you clearly don't

If you think expressing BT gene or glyphosphate causes fruit to yield more/less nutrients, then you clearly don't know what you are talking about.

When did I say that? Trick question: I didn't.

you claim that they genetically engineer fruit to yield less nutrients, when all they change for their main crops are BT gene or glyphosphate. The fact that you claim that they purposly reduce nutrients in their fruit is ridiculous.

If that's it, you're a little late since this was basically already addressed.

Inform yourself. After the way you started talking to me, I don't see why I should do anything for you.

Probably because God was feeling a bit like his Old Testament self when he allowed this company to exist.

Few times have I been happier to be a Canadian, drinking Canadian dairy products than when I saw a documentary on Monsanto in business class.

TC makes a really strong argument, and its original thought

EDIT: I mean OP makes a strong argument , because OP fits better in this context

Oh how evil, providing a product that people want and making a profit from it.
