What the hell is muse? See? They are not that famous, whoever they are.dakan45Either that, or you don't listen to much music at all. Or you're from another planet.
[QUOTE="scottiescott238"]Why ARE muse so popular, well, because they are good, and consistant, awesome live.th3warr1orwhy does Guns N Roses suck now? Because Slash left and took the band with him.
I am one of those people that dissects music. And I like muse because their instruments sync really, really well. Their singer is decent, although he does carry some pitches well, especially when singing softly, but the instrumentals are what makes Muse a great band.
Anyone that can listen to their songs without destressing based on how soothing their instruments coincide...doesn't have a soul! Not many bands pull that off.
Their fantastic musicians, The singer is amazing, he also plays guitar, not to special on the guitar but oh well, Bassist actually keeps rythem rather than following the guitar, and the drummer has some amazing beats, and its not always the simple 1,2 beat with the high hat, bass, and snare. Like most the bands theses days.

Heh that bores me as well with most bands. The Yeah Yeah Yeahs drummer is excellent in being creative (though less so in the most recent album). Also I like Interpol's drummer a lot. I don't know why so many drummers just fall back on the 1-2 beat (bass, snare, bass, snare, with the high hat keeping time) for 99% of their songs.and the drummer has some amazing beats, and its not always the simple 1,2 beat with the high hat, bass, and snare. They create soaring rock operas - they kind of fit right between Queen and Radiohead. i.e., epic melodies over great riffs, a pounding beat, piano accents, with digital undertones added in. They always have a sound of frantic desperation and paranioa which goes well with their compositions. The singer is classically trained, and it shows in the writing. Plus, their live show is not to be missed.Engrish_Major
Well put
My main inspiration when I played was Joy Division's drummer. He wasn't particularly talented (in the classical sense - I mean he was no Neil Pert), but the beats he came up with were so unique and memorable. He made me think that if he could come up with something so great, maybe I could too :PYeah I agree it gets pretty lame hearing the same beat with a few fills here and there, I guess most bands do it cause it's easy to play, and it can be the main beat for pretty much anything.

Only boring people that think they are cool listen to Muse. A lot like Radiohead fans except they are nerds that have poor taste in music.
I thught the same thing. Why are Muse threads so popular. There was one of these yesterday :?

I'm getting sick of the muse threads.
Because there are so many.Yes

'I dont like Radiohead therefore people who do are nerds with poor taste in music'. Some stellar logic right there.Only boring people that think they are cool listen to Muse. A lot like Radiohead fans except they are nerds that have poor taste in music.

And also agree on Yeah yeah yeah's drummer, though I am not a huge fan of lo-fi sound.and the drummer has some amazing beats, and its not always the simple 1,2 beat with the high hat, bass, and snare. I really don't like Muse, I have nothing against the people who do but to me they have nothing to offer except these build up "epic" songs that teenagers unfamiliar with rock music will think is cool (and Im sorry if that sounded elitist) I can go on and on....
Either way I am going to see them in April just because The Silversun Pickups are opening for them. I can't wait to see those guys live again.
So I'm a boring person who thinks I'm cool but I'm really a nerd with poor taste in music because I like Radiohead and Muse?Only boring people that think they are cool listen to Muse. A lot like Radiohead fans except they are nerds that have poor taste in music.

I don't know if they are that popular (atleast not where I live.) but they are an amzing band imo. Every album is great, and they are pretty much unbeatable live
Unbeatable live? Iron Maiden and Metallica make them look like a bunch of 5 year olds on toy instruments :|I don't know if they are that popular (atleast not where I live.) but they are an amzing band imo. Every album is great, and they are pretty much unbeatable live

Can't say anything about Iron maiden, but as much as I love Metallica all the footage I have seen of them live suggests they are......not so good.
I mean at this point Lars is barely capable of playing double bass parts....
Whether you like them or not Muse on the other hand puts on what just might be the best live act around.
