I am 33 and I dont know, one thing about my generation is that we definitely are wimps and completely only concerned about the welfare about ourselves as opposed to others. The previous generation definitely stuck together more and was way more militant in fighting for their rights. What changed? Maybe Vietnam was a unifying experience? I work in a Union and I definitely see it myself everyday. The older guys stick together or had, but the newer guys are afraid and always out for themselves. Hence, Unions are almost dead.

You are probably right (although the war in Vietnam was far from a "unifying" experience). What the older generations should do more of however is to teach the youth and instill in them the values of the older generations.

I'm 33, and yeah well that's what you get with 12 years of schooling that says "You're special, you deserve to have whatever you want. You're Superman!"

I dont think that the school's system of upliftment is the reason for the problems in today's youth.

If you are a soldier, of course you are going to be very brave (I was talking about the reasons for being there though, think Iraq.)

33 isn't young, it's 2 years off Middle Age. I'll be 34 next week, in fact.

And I assure you, that stupid "you're special" crap they had in the classrooms in the 80's screwed a bunch of people up. I've been 'The Boss' before and have had to put up with peoples stupid attitdes. Everyone is so super-competitve they can't work as a team without trying to trample over each other to get recognized.
