Dunno, but I just ate the greatest lunch in a long time. To finish it all off I'm drinking a nice hot cup of tea.

In terms of how much we eat and how far it has to travel to where we are.

It's just the latest latte liberal cause celebre; something trivial people can do to feel like they are making the world a better place by paying more for "locally grown organic artisan produce" at trader Joe's and eating their pretty much identical food with a sense of smug self-satisfaction. Hope that helps clarify things.

It depends on the resources needed to make it, package it, and deliver it to you.

Because current practices are artificially maintained. Yields are higher than nature can sustain, and the chemicals to facilitate this damage the surrounding environment.

because we waste sooo much resources and energy on producing meat. 1 square mile of well irrigated wheat fields can feed about 3000 people indefinitely. But instead we just feed it all to cows and pigs and chicken.

That wheat is not edible to us people. They grow different stuff for animals and humans. I've heard that organic is nowhere close as efficient as industrial farming. Lemme guess. Hybrids are better for the environment than normal cars?

I always thought it was because of the methane in cow farts that hurts the O-Zone layer.

uh.. hybrids are better for the environment. also what he said is correct, i learned it in anthro last semester. 1 square mile of land can feed many people, lets say its not wheat, but corn or whatever you want or a variety of vegitables. if we were to stop eating cows / chicken / exc and just eat vegitables instead, we would be way more efficient when it came to land / food ratio's. also cows are the leading source of co2, yes, more than cars.

No to the first, yes to the second. Hybrids are NOT better for the environment by a long shot. Simple reasoning can be used on this. A hybrid uses exotic materials for its batteries as well as its electric motors. What goes into the battery? Wonderful dangerous things that many times cannot be really recycled. These materials are usually mined in China which is known for its lack of any standards pertaining to the environment. They are later processed, dumping even more evil into the air. Later they are shipped to where ever, usually by boat, which adds more pollution. Overall, a Prius is less friendly to the forest than say, a Honda Accord which is ULEV certified, and assembled in the U.S. Overall an older used Geo Metro will give you superior fuel economy, and will be better for the environment. Why? Because buying used is recycling.

He really hasn't said much past the two messages he posted near the beginning.
