Really why? Because their the majority? Thats no reason to make it aceptable. If you say something against the white race, thats racism. Saying something against Christianity is just like making fun of any other religion.

I agree with this. Some people think it's okay to poke fun at majorities. I don't know why. :?

I think his point is that if someone says something racist about black folks everyone has a fit, but not so with white folks. And if someone says Christians are stupid nobody cares, but if someone said Muslims are stupid there'd be a problem.

I still don't see what we are supposed to be discussing, though. Something like that would only be true where those two things are in the majority? It's not a world-wide thing.

I dont know. Maybe its because of the history of the white race and white people to this very day still trying to force their beliefs onto the rest of the world. I dont think the attitude the rest of the world has towards whites will ever change.

I think the point of the discussion is pretty obvious -- whilst white people and Christians aren't the majority world-wide, they are in western areas of the world, which the majority of users in GS seem to be from.

1st of all, black people generally arent the racist people. And sorry to say, but there isnt a lot of racial slurs that can be used against whites (that they generally dont accept). And that is generally why if we ever say something about white people, we usually dont mean it as "I hate you because you are different than me", while that term is usually when whites do it. Hatred is always worse/more evil than jokes, remember that.

I don't accept any of the things I was called while living in a primarily black neighborhood for 3 years. I didn't appreciate being threatened and told that I didn't belong whenever I went to buy a Diet Coke at my local grocery store either.

The double-standards surrounding racism in the U.S. are unreal.

It's certainly a mean thing to do. Just realize that as majories we have to worry about racism a lot less than minorities. Also a lot of racism against us is a direct result of back in the day when we were more opressive. That said it's still racism, so yeah your right.

First of all, you haven't been paying attention if you never noticed a backlash against people for talking about Christianity negatively. It doesn't happen often though, because the vast majority of people here (in the west, which is obviously where you are basing all this) ARE in fact Christian. So one hate filled person here isn't gonna slam another based on religion, because more than likely they BOTH consider themselves Christian. As for the "you can say anything you want against white people" thing that everyone always brings up when someone gets mad at something racist a white person says against another race, I would need examples.

but please dont act like it wasnt because of what your ancestors and white people before you did that made that lack of trust. The trust wasnt there anymore in that community. I havent met one black person who live here in Chicago (one of the most segregated cities in America) have never ever done that stuff that you said. Sure they were wrong for what they did, but it was because of the bitterness of their past that made that particular community that way.

I think some were referring to when a comedian impersonates a white person or something. But that is clearly not that offensive, since most white people love that type of jokes themselves. We on the other hand, have been compared to wild animals, and I dont think hardly any white person has been reffered to as an animal by a black person before in their life.

First of saying things about Christianity has to do with religious discrimination not with race. Racism against whites is usually overlooked because people are able to through the past actions of the white community as a whole back into white people's faces, this creates guilt, and that guilt suppresses people from speaking out against it, as if white people deserve it as pay back. I for one have always been disgusted by the racist actions other groups have shown to whites. You can't use history to justify bad behavior today. We will never move forward behaving like that.

As far as the christian thing I don't really care cause I don't believe in any of those religions.

We also can't forget - Whites were the ones who tried to reign supreme as the 'superior race' while every other ethnicity was merely fighting for equality.

Honestly, in my experiences, white people always exhibit the most racism and utilize the most insulting vocabulary. Calling someone white trash, while by no means is a good thing, is less insulting than say calling someone an uncivilized animal.

That is true, but white racism (which is actually racism to the fullest) is usually comparing an african american to a wild animal and to the dirt on the ground (which is the lowest of lows) , and is expressed usually as hate, and those type of people usually wont have a beer with you after they make the joke about you. They want you dead.

Unfortunately, racism and religious intolerance come in several shapes & sizes. From today's black comedians telling jokes about the often talked about "lack of common sense of whites" and clearly biased "black community leaders" to Christians who, some time ago, descrating the temples and sacred locations that honored greek/roman/egyptian gods.

I grow up in a black christian family in the US and I'll tell you right now that Blacks are some of the most racist people you can meet. However they get away with it because of the past and because they generally lack the power to negatively affect another group on a whole.

Christians are greatly intolerant not only to other religions but even within themselves. Put a devote Catholic, Seventh Day Adventist, Baptist, and Jehovah Witness in the same room and see what happens.

All people need to relation take a step back and see how foolish biased hatred is. Hating someone you've never meet makes no sense.

Plus if you get to know most people you can find lots of reasons to hate them for who they are on the inside. JK ;)
Honestly, in my experiences, white people always exhibit the most racism and utilize the most insulting vocabulary. Calling someone white trash, while by no means is a good thing, is less insulting than say calling someone an uncivilized animal.peaceoutmedusa
and "white trash" is usually used within their race.

The point was to not be insulting:D. While I agree that history should not be used to justify racism, it still determines today's outcomes. For example, in my area at least, many of the richer areas are predominantly white and poorer areas black. After blacks as well as other races were given equal rights in the west(still not equal in some aspects in my opinion) they were expected to quickly recover from hundreds of years of suppression, just like that. Then comes in human nature, which leads to group mentality and wanting a feeling of belonging.
That has to be one of the most ridiculous things that I have ever read. Segregation back in the fifties did not happen because "whites were mis treated". And racism is usually something that is passed down, so your logic is clearly flawed. peaceoutmedusa

Really? Thats really weird.

As a Black Christian I think I can speak from experience. Segregation happened due to racism? Yes. Is that the only form of racism known to man? Hell no.

White racism (which is usually true racism) is usually comparing an african american to a wild animal and to the dirt on the ground (which is the lowest of lows) , and is expressed usually as hate, and those type of people usually wont have a beer with you after they make the joke about you. They want you dead.

True racism??! You're a joke! Racism is racism. Period. It does not matter which ethnicity it is. You can not be serious...you have to be trolling me.

As for the "you can say anything you want against white people" thing that everyone always brings up when someone gets mad at something racist a white person says against another race, I would need examples.RushKing
I think some were referring to when a comedian impersonates a white person or something. But that is clearly not that offensive, since most white people love that type of jokes themselves. We on the other hand, have been compared to wild animals, and I dont think hardly any white person has been reffered to as an animal by a black person before in their life.

Humans in general are racist, please take your racial goggles off.

Where did I lie???

Really why? Because their the majority? Thats no reason to make it aceptable. If you say something against the white race, thats racism. Saying something against Christianity is just like making fun of any other religion.Rusty_Ripper
... Last I checked Christianity is put into the lime light as a "superior" religion that helped develope the nations of the west.. This overly flawed and ridiculous view has done little when many people to this day believe regions of the world like the Middle East are specifically violent for their religion (which is not true..).. Furthermore racism is looked down no matter what it is, but to me this is like the rich little kid crying that the poor kid got a bike and he didn't.. Whites control the wealth and political power in the United States, even when there is a Black president in office.. Its the same kind of ridiculous logic of people saying "Why do we have a black history month? We should have a white history month!" No we don't need a white history month because 90% of history of the United States is specifically about whites, even worse so historians were writing with that bias in mind towards other people such as Native Americans, blacks, minorities etc etc.. So seriously give it a rest..

What I meant was that racism is generally hatred. That is its main purpose.

You tried your little joke, but it failed.

Because apparently Caucasians are evil and deserve to be discriminated against.
The above statement is a joke, and is not to be taken seriously to any extent.

Hatred is always worse/more evil than jokes, remember that.peaceoutmedusa

There are plenty of racist black people who hate white people.

"there isnt a lot of racial slurs that can be used against whites (that they generally dont accept)".

I don't accept any of the things I was called while living in a primarily black neighborhood for 3 years. I didn't appreciate being threatened and told that I didn't belong whenever I went to buy a Diet Coke at my local grocery store either.

The double-standards surrounding racism in the U.S. are unreal.

but please dont act like it wasnt because of what your ancestors and white people before you did that made that lack of trust. The trust wasnt there anymore in that community. I havent met one black person who live here in Chicago (one of the most segregated cities in America) have never ever done that stuff that you said. Sure they were wrong for what they did, but it was because of the bitterness of their past that made that particular community that way.

So if my great great great grandfather owned a slave, I'm somehow responsible for his wrongs, and I should be understanding if a black person mistrusts me because of the color of my skin? That's ridiculous. In fact, that's racist, If you truly believe that, you are a racist. And most of America is starting to realize the same thing. Your excuse is not going to be considered legitimate much longer. You've got Affirmative Action in education and in employment, you've got enhanced welfare, and it's all at the expense of what is a majority of white taxpayers. The fact is, many blacks (not all) have a chip on their shoulder and feel like they should be handed success rather than having to work for it like everybody else, because their grandparents were persecuted and they have ended up in a difficult situation. It creates a black hole (no pun intended), a situation in which our money is going to ghettos in the form of welfare never to be used for any constructive purpose, or to programs for blacks that have failed to show results time and time again. Yes, I said it, and it's not a racist comment. it's an economic reality. What's really racist is the continued attitude that less fortunate blacks need so much government help. It's crippling them. It's telling them, "You can't do it yourself." The unemployment rate among black males 18-25 is almost 50%. You simply can't help somebody who isn't willing to help himself or herself first. Sorry if you think whites are responsible for all the problems that black families face; that may have had some amount of truth to it 40 years ago, but it doesn't anymore. Get over it, and work as hard as you can. I and countless others have achieved success with that mindset, and I wasn't born or raised in a pristine situation, believe me. In fact, for the first 16 years of my life, I was worse off than may families who get welfare checks. Quit the excuses, try to help yourself. Good things happen if you work hard. Cynicism never got anyone anywhere.

We and them mentality is so annoying why don't people just drop it and look at other people as individuals. Someones Race has nothing to do with who they are as a person.
