Been meaning to write a song about this.
Have you guys notice this. This is also happening to gaming population. Been spending time with family members and found the young ones really disrespectful and have bad habits. I also notice in school as well . Is it because of media???games??? Bad parenting??? I want your opinions!!fralee3
Maybe it's because children just generally tend to be self-centered jerks who think that the entire world should revolve around them.
I mean...I can look back on my childhood and realize that I was just a selfish little jerk with an over-inflated sense of entitlement. And I was one of the unpopular kids who was constantly getting bullied and picked on. Point is that kids just generally tend to be really BAD at being responsible and socially responsible people. You'd sort of expect that, since most of them don't have any experience in the matter.
Some jerks grow up to be bigger jerks. Some jerks grow up to be truly awesome and compassionate people. But kids are just generally sort of jerks. Of course the "young ones" are going to be disrespectful, because generally, kids are jerks. They started life as babies, where everything really DID completely revolve around them, and where they were literally the most important thing in the world. They then go out into the world and of course it's going to take time for them to learn how to become PEOPLE instead of "babies in an adult's body". It's a difficult transition, one that some (maybe most) people NEVER fully accomplish.
So here's my thing...yes, kids are total jerks. But that's at least unstandable since they're just KIDS.
I blame the 60s – them hippies have a lot to answer for…. Actually nah – people are just looser that's all, and generally the better for it. We could revert to Victorian values, stiff upper lips, draconian authority, sexual oppression, etc. and save our deviancies for private quarters, but I say let's embrace decadence and live life to the full.

I must admit I don't look back and see my younger self as a jerk. I was definitely a lot dumber though. Dear God was I ever stupid.
i remember one episode of South Park in which all the kids are hooked to everything japanese like pokemon, manga, anime etc. they joked how Japan is trying to induce the next gen with their culture and bringing down america, more effective than war :lol:u need to watch the newest episode of south park

That reminds me of this one time when I was about 13 or so, and I went with my parents to visit some relatives. Anyway, on the trip, I got to hang out with my slightly older cousin.
So, anyway, at one point I'm in my cousin's bedroom and he says, "wanna see something really cool?" He then pulls out a gun and starts waving it around.
At that point, I'm like, "dude...put that thing away. That's dangerous. I mean, seriously. Don't wave that thing around me."
Then he says something like, "what are you, some kind of punk? I'm in a gang, *****! I've got a gun and I'm not afraid to use it. You tell my parents that I have this gun, and I'll ****ing kill you."
Then I replied, "Uh...yeah. If you're that scared of your parents finding out that you have a gun, then it's probably not a good idea to murder me with a gun while your parents are downstairs. Seriously, dude, think about this for a minute. I don't care if you have a gun or not, so why would I rat you out? I'm just here because my parents dragged me down here for the weekend. I don't care if you're in a gang or if you have a gun, just don't wave that thing around when I'm here, because I don't want to ACCIDENTALLY get shot.

Kids, huh. can't get the definition of "what's cool" never correctWhat with it easier to get pills, smokes and brew nowadays of course the new generation's a wreck. They're all depressed because of their depressing lifestyles all listening to their depressing music about people being depressed and getting even more depressed causethey suck in school because they never tried because they were given the false impression that school is depressing whereas if you don't do well in school you'll end up depressed. The only way to fix their depression is to kill eachother and wreak havoc. And even then thet's only temporary. And they know no better than to do that...
I myself am 15 and think about this everyday. It really saddens me...
except i think theres a solid arguement for it in this case. this generation lies more, has less respect for elders, the news of stupid people is increasing at an alarming rate, grades are going down the toilet, and a general entitlement attitude is rotting the current young generation to its core. and of course the sex and drug revolution of the 60s has exploded into a whole another series of problems and lets not forget the staggering crime rates arent exactly on the decline and prisons are overpopulated. so yes i think we finnally have a case for this generation is worse than the previous one.Every generation there ever was has said that the next generation is worse than theirs, and every generation there ever was has been wrong.

It only appears to be that way, things get better over time, not worse. The 60s did wonderful things for the world.
Would you care to name a time when things were 'better' in the world?

You have no evidence for the first five claims, and I don't understand how prison overpopulation or stagnant crime rates are supposed to be "our" fault considering that it's the PREVIOUS generation that's in charge of fixing those issues. :|
