Why is the canadian dollar so high??

I need to know this for next class, and i cannot find a simple reason for this. Why is the dollar in US so low? Please help me. Thank you. krystians

I took this from an article in Yahoo Canada Finance:

"The Canadian dollar, which has been gaining ground on its American counterpart for several years, rose sharply Tuesday after the U.S. Federal Reserve surprised the market with a bigger-than-expected cut in U.S. interest rates. Canada's currency was also helped by a new high price for crude oil."

Same reason other currency's change value, I might buy some american dollars on friday though.....not too sure yet, anything could happen.
