[QUOTE="Hallenbeck77"]teenagers everywhere are idiots. it's not just limited to the states. My guess is it's because a good amount of teenagers here in the US are...well, frigging idiots.

True but the states might emphasis on MIGHT have the most idiots. Especially with the immature:mature ratio I've seen.
I did an essay on this last year in my english class, I think I got a B on it...
I don't particularly remember what I said, but my professor said I had good arguments. It had to do with drunk driving thats all I remember

True, but it seems like a majority of them are here for some reason.
It stinks that even though they are 18, they cannot dring for another 3 years. The rule should be at least 18 if you serve in the military. It's sad that you can catch a bullet in a war at 18, but not allowed a beer.

Maybe it just seems like that to us because we live here? I'm sure if I spent more time in other countries I'd meet more obnoxious kids there.

most cliched/overrused argument ever. Dammit I wish I had my essay right now!
Because Canada =/= United States.Cedmln
Lol, that's right, Canada did it just to one-up us! Damn you crafty Canucks!
Blah I'm happy i don't live in the U.S :) Less crowded here, better laws, free health care and not so many fat chicks (Though there are lots but that's how it is in every country) uhh what else...yeah hockey watch it.
Though im probably going to be bashed to @(#@
So ill just answer with a simple answer? (lol?)
To many people who carry guns in America who are 18-21 years old. Blame the gangsters ftw or bush everybody blames him lol.
Actually, I'm pretty sure they do it to make it harder for kids in High School to get liquor. The age for smoking is 18, so pretty much anyone with a senior friend can get cigeretts. Getting beer still isn't exactly impossible, but it's a little harder.darkmoney52
Yeah not to mention that I know alot of 18 year olds who would like to get some younger highschool girls drunk to do the naughty naughty if you catch my drift. I find that pathetic though.

They probably set their age at 19 so three extra years of beer drinkers in America would go to Canada, buy a lot of beer, ultimately tons of profit.[QUOTE="darkmoney52"][QUOTE="Cedmln"]Because Canada =/= United States.camreeno360

I don't know. I never watch that show.In england the drinking age is 18 but everyone starts drinking at 14/15
and you dont need ID to buy drink so if you look older then your pretty much set
maybe it is because in america everyone might start drinking at 16-18 i dunno can someone tell me?
The better question is, why are we able to join the military at age 17 (with parental concent) and kill for our country but still have to wait 4 years to drink?
You can legally kill for your country but can't loosen up with a beer while you're on leave... Its so stupid.
The legal drinking age is 18 over here in the UK. I don't know what I'd have done when I first started uni if it had been 21. Although I calmed down alot since then.Samwel_X
I would of gone crazzy...or I would of just drank anyways lol how bad is going to uni and NOT being able to drink?! I never really thouhgt about how bad itwould beto have 21 as the legal drinking age :?...sounds like it sucks though lol :(
In england there is a huge binge drinking culture booshdy
The problem with that is that it exists with more than just the current generation. My parents used to drink sometimes excessively, and it always has been that way for hundreds of years, since before any drinking laws existed. It is just now the media publicise it.

And yet, 16 year olds can legally drive? (In some places anyway..)

WTF are you talking about?
Not everyone starts drinking aged 14, and of course you need to produce ID, if the seller has any idea what they are doing. I'm 16 in 4 days and I have NEVER bought drink from a shop, so you are exaggerating, alot. Of course there is underage drinking, but that goes on in every country - there is always a way to get around the law.

Yep, don't try and compare how un/mature teens are here, when you NEVER been to any other country.Haha in Australia we are adults at 18. Drink all you want. You can drive at 16. IMO if you can't drink until your 21 it pushes your moron years back, so a 25 year old might still be a moron going to parties in the States, but in Australia, you are well and truly over it by then.
Perhaps that's why people say we are more mature, but I don't know...
In norway, beer and driving is 18, legal sex is 16 and harder drinks are 21.TheTerribleFishMakes more sense to me

You got a limit on the harder drinks too? Over here alcohol is alcohol. Legal sex is... 15 here I think and16 for girls. I don't know though, I've never known anyone to get in trouble because they had sex too young. Not that 12 year olds should even be thinking about it...
