The more you go up the educational ladder, the more liberal you become. (Secular colleges at least)

Can you please back up that rather bold statement with some facts?
It's a fact that colleges are more liberal yes, but you don't just become more liberal as you become more educated. With that logic I must either be a liberal or stupid. Which one is it?

I think it's obvious that he means that college graduates tend to be more liberal, not seeing where he suggested that you're retarded if you're not liberal. :|

Don't know, I read it pretty plain and simple.
It isn't getting less conservative. Younger people tend to be more liberal, but as they start to earn incomes and age they tend to become more fiscally conservative.
this. Since this place it mostly younger people its more liberal. I dont think at 20ish you can have all your ideals completely fixed for life.It isn't getting less conservative. Younger people tend to be more liberal, but as they start to earn incomes and age they tend to become more fiscally conservative.

[QUOTE="darkfox101"]Because the world is getting lazier.. more laxed... Every liberal I know is in debt its disgusting. JML897
:| And every conservative I know is a racist redneck.
(Not really, just pointing out that stereotypes are stupid.)
To be honest I think if you live in America, anybody over the age of 30 seems to be in some wild debt. For some reason it didn't catch on for a few generations that charging everything to your credit card and buying houses and cars on loans and mortgages that you just can't pay back in your lifetime isn't probably a good idea.
I'm in a massive amount of debt from my 5 years of college.
I came in here to say this.It isn't getting less conservative. Younger people tend to be more liberal, but as they start to earn incomes and age they tend to become more fiscally conservative.

Most people don't tend to change their standing on social issues with age though. I would say social issues are more a sign of whether a person is liberal or conservative than fiscal issues. I mean I'm a raging liberal by the standards of most of this board but when it comes to fiscal issues I'm generally a bit more conservative. It isn't getting less conservative. Younger people tend to be more liberal, but as they start to earn incomes and age they tend to become more fiscally conservative.

Really, because I saw absolutely nothing in that post that implied non-liberals are retarded. You're reading too much into it dude.
"If your not a liberal at 20 you're heartless, but if you're not a conservative by 40 you're brainless."
but thats probably because by the time your 40 the things that made you liberal at 20 will be totally different and acceptedthan what is now considered liberal
I think the term conservative has been overused by people like Rush Limbaugh to the point the term conservative is devoid of descriptive value.

i would agree somewhat. teachers in big colleges and universities tend to be more liberal. now if we take a 18-26 year old probably the biggest age group for college who are going there for an education and of course probably dont have a real political identity and the teachers are already more liberal....chances are your going to walk out of college a liberal. unless you goto college and your a conservative before hand or like me by some odd reason got one conservative history teacher(of course that was before i transfered to a university) that opened my eyes(i would advise reading the communist manifesto to start opening your eyes) chances are your just going to come out college at least moderate if not liberal.most of my roommates are liberal most of my neighbors in my apartment area are on the liberal side of things too. and going to a big school with liberal teachers likely isnt going to be what changes that. alot of folks in that age group watch the colbert report or jon stewart show for news. which should tell you how skewed their news is if that is there main source or really only source.
im not saying watch only fox news but i am saying watch fox cnn and nbc then make a choice. so ya i can totally see what he means. of course it is a shame because liberalism is communism and communism is the polar opposite of freedom. so it is a shame to see this trend but its an unfortunent reality. but the tea party is perhaps giving hope that maybe there is a conservative america out there. and ive also learned europe liberal and conservative mean two different things so i am talking about strictly how it is defined in america.
because conservatism holds back progress for the sake of sentimentality? at least socially it does
financial conservatism is understaneable
Put me down as heartless because I am about 20 and I consider my self Conservative. Not insane like Limbaugh but sure as hell not a Liberal."If your not a liberal at 20 you're heartless, but if you're not a conservative by 40 you're brainless."

Well there was a study recently out of Britain stating that atheists and/or liberals have higher IQs than conservatives.

Lol, at this post...liberlasim is communism? How is that? You do realize that just because communism is considered, to be on the off the charts left side of the political spectrum, that it is not liberalism. It stems from marxism, which does not have roots in liberlasim. Using your logic I could compare facism to conservatism.
Also Fox, CNN, and MSNBC are not particularly good places for news. The entire cable news circuit is skewed and does not think clearly. They are in it to inflame and to garner the strongest ratings and support. CNN is midly better, but any network that would hire Rick Sanchez probably needs to be taken with a grain of salt:P As for Fox News and MSNBC, when you've got people like Sean Hannity, Ed Schultz, Glenn Beck, and Chris Matthews on your network, how can you really be considered a source of news so much as a place where information involving current events is discussed from a decidely slanted viewpoint.
I'm trying to think up really arrogant post, about how humans are becoming more evolutionarily advanced or morally superior the more they come to align with my progressive ideas. But, I've been quite a smart-ass on this forum today, so I'll leave that be. On the other hand, I tried seriously answering this question, and I found I was having to put some real thought into it, and I don't really want to do that either.

Let me explain this properly. The world isin't becoming less Conservative, nor more Liberal. A conservative right now would actually be pretty Liberal about 100 years ago. While a Liberal will be considered more conservative 100 years from now. Its the progression of ideals. 1000 years ago, not beating aslave was considered liberal, while nowadays owning one would be Conservative (or regresive in this case). You'll find that we get more liberal as a society as more ideas are thought of. But even then, its not always for the better which is why there are conservatives.

I think it is a pretty accurate quote.
Most younger people are liberals. Usually, having not been influenced by society for a long time and at the time when they question things, they develop their own ideas of how things should work, and often those ideas contradict the ideas currently dominant, so they are liberal. As they age, they develop those ideas slightly, and as they settle down, they tend to become set on a few ideas that they have decided are best. By then, these people are in power and have shaped the public opinion towards what they believe. And so now they believe what the general opinion is, although their opinion has never really changed, and they are conservative. The process repeats.
For example, gay rights are pretty liberal beliefs right now. In 30 years, I expect gays will be able to marry nationwide. At that time, those who are for gay rights now will still be for gay rights then, but since gays have rights at that time, then that belief will be conservative. It is the same idea though.
