I'm not trolling!I'm curious though. I just don't get it, why people just don't like cartoons more than anime? Can people tell me why?

I cannot think of a single american cartoon that is not developed either for children, or developed to be a comedic sitcom. Animes actually go into more serious territory.
I'd argue that cartoons are more accepted. Anime still makes some people think you are a weird hentai lover
I hate Anime cuz its trying to be serius, then has 10 year old girls in puny skirts and huge eyes. Its just all over the place.
I like funny american cartoons the most (T&J, Looney Toons, My gym partner is a monkey, Johnny Bravo and Megas XLR, Megas was prolly the closest i got to eaven watching something japanese inspired :D)
Modern day cartoons suck badly. I was born in 1988, and even now I rate first series of Scooby doo, Jonny Quest or The Flying Machines (aired in 1969) a lot higher than Ben10 and rest of the band. In the last few years I have seen only one new decent western cartoon, it was Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends.
On the other hand we have anime, giving us 4 or 5 great shows every year.

Anime/Manga that is serious doesn't have "10 year old girls in puny skirts and huge eyes".
Who hates cartoons other than a handfull of anime fans and senile elitist in a forum? Last time I chekced shows like Simpsons, Family guy, SP etc are regarded as some of thse best forms of entertaiment today.
And btw about "children cartoons"
>>>lots of animu.
Well, anime (which actually means cartoon, but the term "anime" is used so people know its for Japanese cartoons) is a part of Japan's culture and folklore, they perfected it and all anime made is not only targeted towards childern, but also adults. In the west, the culture is way different and it would be strange if you are watching western made cartoons at 20, because they are amed towards children (mostly). Look at the cartoons made from 1940 - 1995, those are classics. 1995 + you cant find a good cartoon to watch. But given the poularity of South park, the simpsons, familyguy and others I cant say that they are only aimed towards children. So i'd have to day that anime is better quality and western cartoons are just a way to earn more money. Thats my oppinnion anyway.
[QUOTE="Litchie"]Is Avatar: The Last Airbender an anime? It certainly isn't japanese..Yandere
No it's not an anime, isn't it like French?
It's American dude and it's wickedly awesome. In regards to the topic at hand; I doubt that you will find many people who sincerely hate cartoons more than anime. It did? It must have been extremely subtle for me to not have noticed.kulmiyeWhenever you hear Cosmo describe something, and then say it's like something else, if you're paying attention it's always bagging some government body and it's funny as hell.
Plus paying attention to a 30 minute cartoon is like asking a goldfish to swim through a tiny ring. It may do it every once in a while but it certainly won't do it all the time.kulmiyeYou have no soul! But fair enough, it's one of the last decent nicktoons.
I watch neither. Comic books and graphic novels ftw!
I dislike animation whose sole goal is to entertain. I prefer artistic style and a "that looks cool" factor that does not have its entire viewership under the age of twelve. Give me animation that someone has poored their heart into!
Probably because they are alot more kiddie than they used to be. Some still are good though. I like cartoons more than anime most of the time.
Almost all the "modern" content you see, even live action, and especially video games (not just Japanese ones) draw lots of inspiration from anime. Everything from color palettes to camera angles to hair styles. Sure you can hate on it, but its everywhere you look, even if what you're looking at isn't anime.
My favorite examples of people hating on anime on this site are the ones that do it all the while with a tag of Dante from Devil May Cry or Snake from MGS. Here are self proclaimed anime haters who love games that play like a real-time anime, an have cut scenes that ARE pretty much anime.
I use to watch anime all the time about 4 years ago and I've grown out of it. I find anime annoying now and I ask myself why did I like it in the first place?

I wouldn't say "grown out" is best way to describe it.
For me yes.. I personally find anime childish even anime with the mature rating. I dunno why. XD

I would say "lost interest", if you look deep enough there are very "mature" anime/manga, they just aren't very popular because of the subject matter.
For example the manga The Journey to the End of the World, it's a very dark and abstract manga that doesn't fit any of the stereotypes people pull out.

Okay cool.. You somewhat seem offended by my opinion cause you really want to prove me wrong.
