Is there any good reason at all to vote for Obama?

He has voted "NV" (meaning "not voting") 233 times in his short career as Senator. (http://www.votesmart.org/voting_category.php?can_id=9490) Assuming he wasn't present at all for half of them (with good reason, and this is an extremely liberal assumption), that means he voted "present" or "not voting" on 116 issues. He voted "NV" on ALL housing & property issues, voted "NV" for three out of four abortion issues, and the only one he voted "Y" ("Yes") for was for the Unintended Pregnancy Amendment, which simply grants more money towards contraceptives and other means to avoid unplanned pregnancy. He has voted "NV" six out of seven times on agricultural issues, and the one he voted "Y" on was an amendment to lower farm subsidies to a limit of $250,000 for married couples. He voted "NV" on 48 out of 92 budget spending and taxes issues, including:

Higher Education Act Amendments and Extensions

Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Funding

Housing Bill with Energy Tax Credit Extensions

Funding Amendment to AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria Bill

Funding to Combat AIDS, Malaria, and Tuberculosis

Medicare Bill to Override a Veto that Would Prevent Medicare Coverage Extensions

He voted "N" ("no") for the Emergency Supplemental Appropriations for the Department of Defense amendment, the Emergency Departmental Supplemental Appropriations Bill of 2007, the Death/EstateTax and Minimum Wage Bill of 2006, the Tax Reconciliation bill, the Debt Limit Increase Resolution, 2007 Budget Resolution, the Budget Reconciliation bill, the Tax Reconciliation bill, the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Funding Amendment, and others.

His voting record clearly shows that, where he actually voted, he supports higher taxes. He does not, however, vote "Y" or "N" for anything truly controversial; He has remained silent on issues like abortion, agriculture, housing and property, and plenty others, including health issues and foreign aid. Look all you want; you will never find a man with such a vague voting record running for president. Why is Obama's record so vague? Simple: He doesn't want to vote "Y" or "N" on anything too controversial. This way, he appears more moderate than he is, and he doesn't piss off anybody.

He is, quite bluntly, playing America for fools.

He supports Partial Birth Abortions as well as voting "N" on prohibiting minors crossing state lines for abortion and voted "N" on notifying parents of minors who get out-of-state abortions. He opposed the Born Alive Infants Protection Act, which would allow infant survivors of botched abortions to live; meaning he supports not just Partial Birth Abortions, but Live Birth Abortions, the single most horrificpolicy I have ever seen in my life.

He has voted to tax the rich "because they make too much" in order to instate a socialist health care plan where the rich, who already pay over half of the country's taxes, pay for the medical care of those who cannot afford it. He has also voted on taxing the rich for education, the environment, and foreign aid. My opinion: It is a violation of the rights of working citizens to take their earned money and give it to somebody else, especially if the somebody else has not earned it himself, which is what will inevitably happen under a socialist economy.

Obama has flip-flopped on drug policy, supporting the decriminalisation of drugs like marijuana one day and then opposing it the next. My personal opinion: Making pot legal for medicine is fine, and I'm open to decriminalisation, but I do not support full-blown legalisation.

Obama supports de-prioritizing the military and lowering military spending.

Obama supports giving illegal immigrants jobs and driver's licences, and opposes fence policy to keep illegal immigrants out of the country. Basically he's saying "come on in! The water's great!" to anyone in Mexico who would like to enter but doesn't feel like meeting the requirements, such as speaking English or paying American taxes.

Obama stated that Iran "doesn't pose a threat to us," then he flip-flopped the very next day, saying that he has always said that Iran poses a very grave threat.

One issue that I will agree with Obama on is his gun control policy. I do not think that allowing some random person (who could have schizophrenia for all anyone knows) to buy a gun at the nearest Wal-Mart is a good thing, so I do view this policy as a positive in Obama's campaign.

Don't even get me started on his social idiocy. Obama has attended an incredibly racist and anti-American pastor's church for over 20 years, referring to him as an uncle and very influential spiritual advisor. Under this pastor he married his wife and baptised his young children. Not until his beloved pastor became a political roadblock did Obama dump him, contradicting earlier claims that he would never do such a thing.

Barack Obama refused to wear a flag pin, but then later stated that he had never done such a thing.

Barack Obama has been known to have connections with known terrorists, including William Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn.

Obama has referred to his own grandmother, who is white and a racist, as a "typical white person." Original quote:

"... .. The point I was making was not that my grandmother harbors any racial animosity. She doesn't. But she is a typical white person who, uh, if she sees somebody on the street that she doesn't know there's a reaction that's been been bred into our experiences that don't go away and that sometimes come out in the wrong way and that's just the nature of race in our society. We have to break through it..."

Barack Obama stated in his primaries that rural Americans were "bitter, clinging to guns and religion."

Obama stated that he had visited 57 states during his trip to Beaverton, OR. There are only 50 states in the Union.

Obama forgot what city he was visiting during a trip to South Dakota.

Obama stated that a Kansas tornado killed 10,000 people. The actual death toll was 12.

Obama stated that Arkansas is closer to Kentucky than Illinois.

Obama claimed that the March on Selma resulted in his conception. The March on Selma was in 1965. Obama was born in 1961.

Obama stated that Arabic translators are needed in Afghanistan. Afghans don't speak Arabic.

Obama pleaded ignorance on the Hanford Nuclear Waste Cleanup, despite it being the nations most contaminated nuclear site. He was also applauded by his supporters for his ignorance.

Obama described union contributions to the Clinton and Edwards campaigns as "special interest money." When he began recieving union contributions himself, he was "thrilled" by their support.

Obama, in a statement about his racial awakening at 9 in his book, Dreams From my Father, said that a graphic photo in a Life article motivated him. Such an article does not exist, as confirmed by Life magazine.

Obama replied "yes" when asked if he would agree to public financing of the presidential election if his GOP opponent did the same. His spokesman now says that he never gave such a pledge, and Obama himself has attached several conditions, including regulating spending by outside groups.

Obama said flatly that it was time "to end the embargo with Cuba," because it had "utterly failed in the effort to overthrow Castro." Speaking to a Cuban-American audience in Miami in August 2007, he said he would not "take off the embargo" as president because it was "an important inducement for change."

I see two good aspects about Obama: He has worked hard his whole life and has come a very long way in the face of much adversity, and he has a good gun control policy.

However, I do not view these as good reasons to vote for him as our President. He has done nothing, NOTHING, but preach empty hope and change promises that sound good, maybe even euphoric, in comparison to the time we have been through in the past eight years, but I need more than promises and vague voting records.

Both Obama and McCain morally oppose homosexual marriage and both support a 16-month withdrawal from Iraq.

So GameSpot, without turning this into a McCain-bashing topic (as many Obama supporters do when asked this question), why should I, a concerned voter, vote for Barack Obama in the upcoming November election? Why should I support ridiculously high taxes, partial birth abortions , vague voting records and shady backgrounds?

on the contrary, there is absolutely no policy reason to vote for mccain. he get most of his votes because he is a white pro life christian.

and i really hate it when people whine about the rich paying more taxes. it's for the greater good. yes sometimes federal money is abused but for the most part it goes to a good cause like schools or national defense.

rich people SHOULD have to pay more taxes. there's no reason why they should get tax cuts over the middle class.

and one more thing. if the american people are ignorant enough to elect a republican who is almost in line with bush after the past eight years, i have lost all faith in them.

Without going into it, the list is far worse with McCain. Obama's not the saint that the MSM percieves it to be, but when it comes down to it McCain is the worse of two.

So basically the only reason to vote for Obama is "he's not McCain."

That's all I'm getting so far. I guess he's not the wonderful savior Obama fanboys make him out to be.

That;s ridiculous. You just say that McCain is worse, without citing any facts, evidence, or even real opinions. I can say that Benjamin Harrison was better than Thomas Jefferson. Does that make it so?

Well, so far, I have one reason to vote for McCain: He's pro-life.

That makes one more reason for me to vote for McCain than I have for Obama so far. This supports my point that Obama supporters can't give reasons why they like Obama without insulting McCain first.

It's hilarious asking a democrat to explain what Obama has done to qualify him for the presidency. The only answer I've ever heard is that he's connected with voters. Does anyone have a real answer for me?

Rich people already pay a large amount of their money for taxes. They pay almost 80% of the country's taxes. Now Obama wants to take their earned money, a violation of human rights, and give it to someone else.

There are no good reasons to vote for Obama. He has no experience. He has very dangerous friends such as Jeremiah Wright who he called his mentor. A mentor teaches. Bill Aires is a terrorist and is Obama's friend of 20 years. The Obama campaign refuses to release details of his past.

Only vote for him if you want to hand keys to the castle over to a socialist with no experience. It would not be very smart at all. He also wants to try and play nice with nations that are not interested in playing nice. Extremist Islamic nations find our very existance an abomination and want nothing more than for us to die. Obama will empower them.

HAHA he uses the term :typical white person" then accuses others of racism. He's obviously eaten all that leftist propaganda. The truth is that if Obama was white, he would have never been nominated with his lack of experience, empty words, and questionable, dangerous associates.

and one more thing. if the american people are ignorant enough to elect a republican who is almost in line with bush after the past eight years, i have lost all faith in them.

The rich do pay more taxes.

"An important component of the leftist class warfare agenda is to condemn President Bush's tax cuts for the rich. This claim is careless, ignorant or dishonest on at least two counts. First there's the constitutional issue. Article I, Section 8 reads, "The Congress shall have Power to lay and collect Taxes. ..." That means the president has no taxing authority.

Presidents can propose or veto taxes, and Congress can override vetoes. The bottom line is that all taxing authority rests with the U.S. Congress. The next time you hear someone condemn or praise Bush's tax cuts, ask them whether the Constitution has been amended to give the president taxing authority.

But what about those tax cuts for the rich? Are the rich now sharing a smaller burden of the federal income tax because their fair share of the burden has been shifted to the poor? The most recent Internal Revenue Service statistics can give us some guidance. In 2005, the top 1 percent of income earners, those with an annual adjusted gross income of $365,000 and higher, paid 39 percent of all federal income taxes; in 1999, they paid 36 percent.

In 2005, the top 5 percent of income earners, those having an adjusted gross income of $145,000 and higher, paid 60 percent of all federal taxes; in 1999, it was 55 percent. The top 10 percent, earning income over $103,000, paid 70 percent. The top 25 percent, with income of over $62,000, paid 86 percent, and the top 50 percent, earning $31,000 and higher, paid 97 percent of all federal taxes.

What about any argument suggesting that the burden of taxes have been shifted to the poor? The bottom 50 percent, earning $30,000 or less, paid 3 percent of total federal income taxes. In 1999, they paid 4 percent. Members of Congress know all of this, but they attempt to hoodwink the average American who doesn't.

The fact that there are so many American earners who have little or no financial stake in our country poses a serious political problem. The Tax Foundation estimates that 41 percent of whites, 56 percent of blacks, 59 percent of American Indian and Aleut Eskimo and 40 percent Asian and Pacific Islanders had no 2004 federal income tax liability. The study concluded, "When all of the dependents of these income-producing households are counted, there are roughly 122 million Americans – 44 percent of the U.S. population – who are outside of the federal income tax system." These people represent a natural constituency for big-spending politicians. In other words, if you have little or no financial stake in America, what do you care about the cost of massive federal spending programs" Source Walter William Economic Professor at George Mason University.?

on the contrary, there is absolutely no policy reason to vote for mccain. he get most of his votes because he is a white pro life christian.

You kidding? When asked about positions, Obama stumbles and fumbles looking for the right words as to not take a clear side. Does "that's above my pay grade" ring any bells? Do you actually want to hear a candidate saying an issue is above his pay grade? McCain has political. military, and life experience. People know him. People know nothing about Obama and he has gone out of his way to keep it that way. Oh and about Bush, unemployment went down in Bush's administration. Wages went up. Bush was made a target unjustly. He takes the Iraq war backlash when there were plenty of reasons to invade just as plenty of democrats gave him permission because they believed the same intelligence he did.

I'll tell you who I have no faith in. I have no faith in people who would vote for someone just because they promise change and hope. I have no faith in people who would risk putting someone with no experience who has ties to hate mongers and terrorists in the white house just to deny someone the position because he's a republican. It's sick.

Really? I got through that like nothing at all. It was actually a good read.

Im curious. If youre a communist, why wouldnt you vote for an extreme liberal such as Obama. He seems like a communist's fantasy.

Because Obama is the most shallow, "pretty boy" politician I have ever seen. All of his speeches, promises, and quotes are all weak lies. The only reason he is so popular is because he's black and because he is much younger then McCain. On that subject, McCain definitely is not a good presidential either. However, he has some substance to his claims and doesn't get votes just because of his skin color and looks.

The only thing that I can agree with Obama is taxing the rich heavily.

You liberals are ridiculous! When Reagan lowered taxes not only did the economy get better but the money coming into the government from taxes actually doubled! And yet democrats still insist we should raise taxes.

Are you in kindergarten? I don't see the problem here. If you don't like Obama then don't vote for him. It seems to me that you're pretty set to NOT vote for him anyway...why involve OT in your pointless forced arguments?

Despite Reagan's severe hatred of Communism, I still think he was one of, if not the best American President ever. I guess you could call him a "true American Hero".

Agreed. I'm a Communist and even I am voting for McCain.

No offnese, but if your a communist I think you would be much happier with Obama, who obviously follows many marxist ideals.

I would like to make it known that I hate both candidates. They both have the overall intelligence of a sea cucumber and the country is in for hell in the next four years. But where I can actually support McCain on a few issues, I think Obama is the greater of two evils.

There have been several "why should I vote for McCain" topics full of Obama supporters who think "lol, McCain's oooooollllllddd" is a good reason not to vote for him.

This is my response. You don't have to click the topic if you don't like it, and you don't have to respond if you're uncomfortable with the information.
