Ideas are infectious, and more powerful than any weapon.
I do not see that loosely connected organization going away any time in the near to distant future.
as time goes on I think the ability of them coming into a nuclear bomb or something of catastrophic destruction greatly will increase.

And then use reverse engineering to make more of them.
I don't think they'll ever go away.
That doesn't mean we should stop using them as Predator drone target practice.
It would be nice if they were all to just wake up and say, 'I say! This millennia long conflict of ours is wearing a bit thin, what? How bout we abandon this killing malarky, and our firmly embedded cultural and religious beliefs, and take advantage of the gaming opportunities provided by the consumerist Western cultures whom we previously despised instead.'
But sadly I think it's probably unlikely. :(

its not impossible to think that they can come up with something of catastrophic proprotions. They have very smart dedicated people thinking about it everyday. Heck the human race developed the A bomb in what 1960 or whatever, I believe in evolving and I believe that they might come into something and that it will greatly endanger all of us.

I am sure they thought that, but then they remembered about the western supported dictatorship many were under that was extremely oppressive and didn't allow it.

A nuclear bomb is hardly the most dangerous weapon they can use.. Biological weapons can be far more dangerous and easier to develope..
Well I was assuming that the dictators would've been involved in this mass morning epiphany, as well :lol:I am sure they thought that, but then they remembered about the western supported dictatorship many were under that was extremely oppressive and didn't allow it.

I understand the other side of the coin, Im a fair person and I know the United States is no angel, and might have embolden AL Quada with Hate, the bottomline is even if we had nothing to do with Al Quada doesnt mean they are a peaceful organization. From thigns I read and saw from their own people accounts makes me think they are inheritingly evil.

Oh I agree, its just obnoxious to consistently talking about Middle Eastern people being irrationally angry to the point of violence.. As if the West had nothing to do with it. Chances are AQ will exist for a long time intil, government secularizes and what not.. And unfortunately the west hasn't done that either.. Infact they have had a history in holding back the Middle East in both democracy and secularization because its easier to control that way, Iraq being a first chance in which it may end in diseaster of instability.
Things change.....as education increases. In a perfect world they would go away...
Unfortuantly this world is far from perfect.

its very safe to say if the US never got involved in afghanstan we wouldnt have Al Quada.
Political scientists have come to examine Al Qaeda and its offshoot organizations using the Post-Maoist insurgency framework. what that signifies is that there is now a more diffuse source of security fault lines. the decentralized threat cannot be summed up as a single entity, and the scenario calls for tightened security interdependence between stakeholders on state and non-state level. in other words, whether Al Qaeda will or will not go away is no longer the main focus of the battle against Islamic terrorism/insurgencies - the key is in the fight itself.

I'm sure they could come up with something themselves, something biological perhaps. Reverse engineering a nuke to make a bunch more of them would also suck, I highly doubt they'd care about nuclear winter killing everybody since they were so quick to kill themselves all over an exploding plane.

AQ is a multi national terrorist group, Afghanistan has hardly anything to do with it.

You have to somehow get that education to the middle east AND somehow convince the people that Islam is not the end all and should be your education, church, and state...

Where are some people getting the idea that we don't have education in the Middle East :| check Egypt, Syria, KSA and many others. It may not be the best education system, but it is an education system after all.Things change.....as education increases.[QUOTE="LJS9502_basic"][QUOTE="Wasdie"]

that terrorism is restricted to the economically and intellectually dispossessed is a misconception which has been shattered by experts. for example, Bruce Hoffman cautioned against this notion in one of his recent seminars, pointing out the increased involvement of western-educated intellects and self-radicalized individuals from liberal countries in global terrorism. in fact, the oversimplification of solutions is becoming one of the problems in combating these radical organizations.

Didn't they attack us first?
Once with a failed attempted bombing of the WTC by explosive-filled vehicle a long time ago and another successful bombing of the WTC by explosive-filled suicide planes?
I dunno, but it seems like it's more that Al Qaeda got involved in the US... Unless you count Desert Storm, our foray into Iraq for a reason I can't recall at this moment. I think that came before their first attempt.
Muslims account for 20% of the world's population. I know that most of them are good, decent, people. But, although not all muslims are al quaida, all al quaida are muslim.UT_Wrestlertrue, but what does that have to do with anything? the most appropriate thing to say here is sadly: "haters will hate" Al-Qaeda is a terrorist group. Evil people using Islam as an excuse. I hope that mountain falls on their heads. Then the world could finally go on discussing the Move and Kinect like TC wanted :)

No. Anywhere there is a defenseless nursing home or unguarded preschool, Al Qaeda will always be lurking.
No the west has been screwing the middle east consistantly for nearly 2000 years. Great avatar btw! :lol:Didn't they attack us first?

Hm, I'll have to check that out sometime then. All the talk of the west starting the conflict got me to thinking about who really did throw their hat into the ring first.
If agencies like Blackwater keep on killing innocents, then people will keep fighting against US etc. What Blackwater may do, US forces have to deal with, the war continues, and Mercs make money.dramaybaz
Blackwater isn't an agency. It's a company.
