despite the fact that I didnt like the movie, I think it was definately one of his better performances.
he was also good in Ali.
Also, despite the corniness and genre of the film, he was perfect for Men In Black...I know, I know...not what you think when you think "acting ability". But the fact is that certain roles are meant for certain people, and Will Smith fit extremely well there.
*oh yea and Pursuit of Happiness...didnt see the whole thing, but what I did see I liked. I especially enjoyed the job interview scene, where he had on his dirty clothes and just got out of jail and told the interviewers bluntly what had happened to him
[QUOTE="ber4fun"]:( Spoiler for those who haven't seen...I Am Legend...good acting when the dog died

dude c'mon that movie is pretty old, and not exactly something to look forward to.

Well...I watch movies months/years later all the time. This one. Apart from that he's an overrated useless actor who looks constipated all the time.Scientology II: Xenu's Revenge.
Dystopian-X
Wow, no one threw out Six Degrees of Separation?bigdcstilelol, I love that movie but most people have never seen it. I like Will Smith, but I stick to my deduction he's a good actor not a great actor. He has his great moments, but I would never call him a great actor. I think he's just such a likable guy that it makes people love him no matter what role he is playing.
Man you know what...... I want Will Smith to play a antagonist now that sounds awesome.CoolSkAGuyI do too, like Ledger in The Dark Knight. Or atleast a extremely bad protagonist like Denzel in American Gangster.
I seem to recall Enemy of the state was watchable, I really don't rate Will Smith highly as an actor though and he was even less entertaining to watch in I am Legend than Tom Hanks in Castaway :|.
lol yeah. I was so pissed when they yanked it from nick at nite, i don't get why they would do that. It's so much better than the Nanny, and 100000000000000x than Glen Martin DDS. In terms of movie performance probably the Pursuit of Happiness, that was a good movie.Fresh Prince of Bell Air

just....just dont be one of those guys that reports people to the mods for spoiling movies that are 3+ years old lol
Imma say Independence Day. Love that film thought he and Jeff Goldblum were great together.

"Now thats what I call a close encounter of the third kind"
one of the best quotes in movie history. he had sooo many good lines in that film.
Fresh Prince or Men in Black. I don't like serious Will SMith I don't think it's very good. I am Legend was a horrid movie and the dog scene wasn't very good at all
Will Smith is the stereotypical cool, hip and funny black guy in hollywood action movies that white guys love to watch, and I'm ashamed to admit that I too like his movies. They're all very entertaining.F1_2004I've never gotten the whole "go rougue", "go aganist the grain" idea of why you have to hate everything that's popular. I mean you really don't...
Pursuit of Happiness, that's what it was! Best performance imo.Gotta go with The Pursuit of Happyness, with Seven Pounds a close second.

I am surrpised no one has mentioned (at least that I have seen) "Enemy of the State".

Same here, but I've watched I Am Legend a couple of times now and I can say that I will never be able to give such a good acting performance. :o:P[QUOTE="sSubZerOo"]

If it weren't for Will Smith, the movie would have been garbage.. Hollywood couldn't help themselves with creating superhuman hairless mutants instead of anything remotely close to the actual book or other older movies.

Agreed, the movie was meh. Kept me interested but it was Will Smith's character that made the movie stand out a bit more.[QUOTE="sSubZerOo"]
