Puerto Rico's in line, bub.Hewkii
Puerto Rico gets all of America's benefits without paying ANY taxes. They will never become a state. It would be the supidest decison on their part to pay for what their getting for free already.

Well considering it may be nice for them to have a vote come Presidential election time,
Its them that are pushing for it.
Let's take Guam. Elraptor
Or American Samoa. Or we could create that fictional "Lincoln" state they want to take half of Eastern Washington state and North half of Idaho.
EDIT: We need to start cutting Puerto Rico off until they join, you need to join or stop mooching off of us.
Then why do they keep voting against being a "state"?Its them that are pushing for it.

Yes, as has been said by others before me in this topic, Peurto Rico is first in line. After that, I believe there are other island nations who'd love to take the spot.
On the other hand, 50 is a good, even number. 51 or 52 stars of the flag? That would just look silly!

We could adopt a different kind of flag style.
I remember there was one in this show I used to watch which had a fictional futuristic US where the 13 red and white stripes were still there, but in the middle was a blue circle with one giant white star representing the whole of the United States.
I hope not.
Well, I guess here in Japan we are military wise sort of an American State since we have bases and everything ( Which I find disturbing and offensive ). And our last leader was sort of a servant to Bush, but if a liberal gets in I think that'll change a bit

Some of them might want to vote.Where the hell have you been? Puerto Rico already has voting rights.
Doesn't Puerto Rico have voting rights in primaries but not the general election?
And I believe we British are going to be the 51st state. :P
me and my friend are starting a militia to divide new jersey into North Jersey and South Jersey.
Because people form North Jersey are stuck up New York types compared to us down low farmers in Souyth Jersey, not myself but most of us.
But if we did this we'd be smaller then Rhode Island, ah well
Actually, Florida could steal Puerto Rico's spot as the 51st state. Though it will probably not happen, there were a few talks about dividing the state. Essentially, it all boils down to taxes and money. Apparently, South Florida (the good part of Florida, not the crummy north part. Jk, JK. I like the north almost as much. Tallahassee, Jacksonville, St. Augustine, and Tampa (central Flordia, still) are all nice.) Anyways, the tax situation is incredibly unfair. The South essentially has more people living here, which means a lot of tax dollars. However, we don't get any where close to what we put in, since it goes to the state as a whole. Essentially, South Florida wants to split to get more benefits. This probably won't happen. Anways, here's a link to a small segment of the story from my local news station. http://www.nbc6.net/news/16211328/detail.html?rss=ami&psp=newsumalex
I think the exact same thing is happening for the exact opposite reason in the Panhandle of Idaho.

Hmm... Now, we should take Mexico just to alleviate the illegal imegration problem, but that leaves us sharing a border with Guatemala. Nah. We could take Cuba just to get a hold of their cigars, but then we'd have to build a bridge from there to Miami: not a good cost-benefit situation. We could always do Puerto Rico, like everyone says, but naw, let's not mess with tradition. You know, anything we actually try doing is going to result in us being called fascist, imperialist pigs.
I think Canada is next in line to be a US State. Soon, Quebec is going to rebel and Canada is going to have no real military to deal with the angry almost-French people and they'll ask for our help. We'll help them after a few years of destruction and then after we've saved them... we'll take over.

Yes, every country does. Thank you for telling us that. However, Canada has a tiny military that does very little. Either way, I couldn't care less: it was a joke.

Not a very good one...Puerto Rico should already be a state...Why are we allowing them to decide whether or not they should be? lol
